Un nuevo episodio en el MonsterVerse nos trae el enfrentamiento de dos reyes..."Godzilla vs. Kong".
En el 2014 cuando fui al cine a ver Godzilla nunca pensé que se crearía un universo en dónde apareciera excelentes versiones de estas criaturas llamadas en momentos "Titanes" y en otros como originalmente son conocidos "Kaiju"; estas series de películas tienen grandes enfrentamientos entre monstruos gigantes, justamente siendo el punto más alto en cada una de estas historias y en dónde los muchos seguidores tanto de Godzilla como de Kong quieren ver, es por eso que era inevitable no tener un enfrentamiento entre estás grandes criaturas, una batalla entre las dos criaturas Alfas protagonistas de este universo de monstruos.
A new episode in the MonsterVerse brings us the clash of two kings... "Godzilla vs. Kong."
In 2014 when I went to the movies to see Godzilla I never thought that a universe would be created where excellent versions of these creatures called at times "Titans" and in others as they are originally known "Kaiju" would appear; these series of movies have great confrontations between giant monsters, just being the highest point in each of these stories and where the many followers of both Godzilla and Kong want to see, that's why it was inevitable not to have a confrontation between these great creatures, a battle between the two Alphas creatures protagonists of this universe of monsters.
"Godzilla vs. Kong" sirve muy bien como secuela de "Kong: The Skull Island" y "Godzilla: King of Monsters"; aunque creo que está más apegada al primer film que sirvió como introducción de este gran personaje a este universo; en esta nueva historia vemos como el mundo ha vivido en paz, sin ataques donde estén involucrados algún Kaiju, pero eso termina cuando el que era visto como un salvador se vuelve en contra de la humanidad en dónde paso de un estado vigilante a uno en dónde ataca sin aparentemente ningún motivo, esto hará que una compañía llamada "Apex Cibernetycs" reclute a una serie de científicos y al Titán que pueda ayudarlos y ser el nuevo protector de la humanidad contra un nuevo poderoso enemigo.
"Godzilla vs. Kong" serves very well as a sequel to "Kong: Skull Island" and "Godzilla: King of Monsters"; although I think it is more attached to the first film that served as an introduction of this great character to this universe; in this new story we see how the world has lived in peace, without attacks involving any Kaiju, but that ends when the one that was seen as a savior turns against humanity where he goes from a vigilant state to one where he attacks for seemingly no reason, this will make a company called "Apex Cybernetics" recruit a number of scientists and the Titan that can help them and be the new protector of humanity against a new powerful enemy.
Siempre he creído que estás historias dentro del Monsterverse deben ser las más fáciles de escribir, las cuatro películas tienen un gran parecido en sus historias en donde existen monstruosas criaturas y personajes que de algún modo estarán envueltos en los diferentes sucesos que ocurren en esto films, puede ser esto lo que desvirtué todo lo que quieren hacer, pero imagino que para las grandes productoras se le es imposible el contar un film sin ninguna estrella conocida o que este surgiendo en el mundo del cine y a pesar de que en este tipo de historias se respeta mucho lo hecho en la anterioridad con respecto a estos personajes, principalmente la visión que tiene la humildad hacia ellos sean o no unidos o que tengan conocimiento con estos monstruos gigantes, esto no lo hago como crítica por qué sirve como estructura para contar este tipo de historia, pero lo que si crítico es el desarrollo y la creación de personajes que al final no son para nada importantes, pero esto no es nuevo porque justamente esto fue lo más criticado en el anterior film de este universo y lamentablemente volvieron a repetir está fórmula.
Ahora, este crossover entre estos Titanes crea que sea una historia con dos puntos de vista por parte de los personajes humanos, sé que anteriormente dije que no son lo mejor de los últimos films, pero para la historia son importantes, existe un grupo que ayuda a Kong a saber o redescubrir su origen y existe otro que busca la verdad tras los ataques de Godzilla, uno funciona por la historia de Kong con los humanos que creo que siempre ha estado ligada, ya que este personaje siempre ha sido subestimado, usado y juzgado por su apariencia, pero en realidad es un personaje poderoso, calmado y que si es molestado no titubeara en mostrar su fuerza, creo que es por eso que "Skull Island" y lo enfocado de Kong en este film sirve, pero ¿Por qué esto no sucede con Godzilla? Para mí la culpa está en crear personajes sin ningún peso y que solo crea un rechazo con respecto a los espectadores, ninguno de los que aparecen en "King of Monsters" y en este film hacen que se cree esa conexión como si lo hicieron los personajes en el primer film del Kaiju más famoso de todos, es por eso que me uno a las muchas personas que piensa que en un futuro debemos ver una película en dónde solo nos cuenten la historia solamente de Monstruos en vez de humanos con Monstruos.
I have always believed that these stories within the Monsterverse should be the easiest to write, the four films have a great similarity in their stories where there are monstrous creatures and characters that somehow will be involved in the different events that occur in these films, this may be what distorts everything they want to do, but I imagine that for the big producers it is impossible to tell a film without any known star or that is emerging in the world of movies and although in this type of stories is very respectful of what was done in the previous with respect to these characters, mainly the vision that has humility towards them whether or not attached to these titans or have knowledge with these giant monsters, I do not do this as criticism because it serves as a structure to tell this kind of story, but what I do criticize is the development and creation of characters that in the end are not important at all, but this is not new because this was precisely what was most criticized in the previous film of this universe and unfortunately they returned to repeat this formula.
Now, this crossover between these Titans creates a story with two points of view by the human characters, I know I said before that they are not the best of the last films, but for the story they are important, there is a group that helps Kong to know or rediscover his origin and there is another that seeks the truth behind the attacks of Godzilla, one works because of Kong's history with humans that I think has always been linked, as this character has always been underestimated, used and judged by his appearance, but in reality he is a powerful character, calm and if he is disturbed he will not hesitate to show his strength, I think that's why "Skull Island" and the focus of Kong in this film works, but why this does not happen with Godzilla? For me the fault is in creating characters without any weight and that only creates a rejection with respect to the viewers, none of those who appear in "King of Monsters" and in this film make you create that connection as if they did the characters in the first film of the most famous Kaiju of all, that's why I join the many people who think that in the future we should see a movie where they only tell us the story only of Monsters instead of humans with Monsters.
Seguro se preguntarán "¿Por qué escribes tanto de los humanos y no de lo importante?" Y tiene toda la razón, es el momento de dar mi opinión sobre estos dos grandes protagonista, creo que está es la mejor versión de ambos, no solo lo dicho de cómo están escritos sino de cómo están diseñados, en este film observamos una gran evolución de estos personajes, vemos cómo sus movimientos son mejores y eso se nota en sus enfrentamientos, más que nada el último dónde es un regalo para los fans de estos personajes, es épico y es lo mejor de la película; tanto su director como todos los que estuvieron envueltos en la creación de esas escenas no se contuvieron en hacer las mejores batallas que se han visto en esta serie de films y espero que de ahora en adelante deben ser tomadas en cuenta para futuras películas porque se nota una clara evolución y una gran mejora en el CGI de lo que se vio del último film de Godzilla, lo otro que me agradó es que se respete la esencia de estos personajes, no quiero ser repetitivo, pero que muestren a Kong como un ser justo, respetable y que este de forma calmada mientras no sea molestado está muy bien hecho, es lo mismo que he visto en tres anteriores films de gigantesco gorila, de Godzilla puedo decir lo mismo, es un ser alfa, es el protector de la tierra, no de los humanos, no puede ser usado y mientras no sienta que los humanos sean una amenaza, entonces toda la humanidad estará en paz, pero al momento que eso cambie, entonces sentirá la ira del rey de los monstruos.
I'm sure you're wondering "Why do you write so much about humans and not about what's important? "And you are absolutely right, it is time to give my opinion about these two great protagonists, I think this is the best version of both, not only what I said about how they are written but how they are designed, in this film we see a great evolution of these characters, we see how their movements are better and it shows in their confrontations, especially the last one where is a gift for fans of these characters, it is epic and is the best of the film; both the director and all those who were involved in the creation of these scenes did not hold back in making the best battles that have been seen in this series of films and I hope that from now on should be taken into account for future films because it shows a clear evolution and a great improvement in the CGI of what was seen in the last Godzilla film, the other thing that pleased me is that the essence of these characters is respected, I do not want to be repetitive, but showing Kong as a fair being, respectable and calm as long as he is not disturbed is very well done, it is the same that I have seen in three previous films of the giant gorilla, of Godzilla I can say the same, he is an alpha being, he is the protector of the earth, not of humans, he can not be used and as long as he does not feel that humans are a threat, then all humanity will be in peace, but the moment that changes, then he will feel the wrath of the king of monsters.
De los cuatro films pertenecientes al MonsterVerse, "Godzilla vs. Kong" está de tercer lugar y eso es por sus excelentes escenas de acción, lamentablemente repite lo malo en el desarrollo de los personajes humanos y más que nada son los personajes que salieron en el anterior film y repiten en este nuevo, pero a pesar de eso existe muchas cosas positivas que podrán ser usadas para futuras películas pertenecientes a este universo o para la creación de otras películas que tengan como protagonista a criaturas o creaciones gigantescas; existen tanto material que puede desarrollarse y con este éxito repentino que ha tenido GvK podemos pensar que esto no es el fin para esta monstruosa franquicia. Mi personal deseo es como ya vimos un posible origen de estas criaturas, creo que es hora de ver uno en dónde se desarrolle mejor la lucha ancestral entre estas criaturas, creo que es necesario para hacer otra cosas, otra que de seguro veremos cómo protagonista a Kong en dónde por fin sea reconocido como el Rey que es, existen otras cosas que me pareció genial, pero no quiero caer en spoilers y ojalá ustedes al verla y (sin son fans de estas películas) puedan captarlas; sé que no es perfecta ni mucho menos, pero creo que es una película entretenida, con sus fallos y sus muchas virtudes y es por eso que mi última recomendación es vean este film sin gran expectativa, no sé enfoquen en los personajes no importantes, solo en los verdaderos protagonistas, Godzilla y Kong.
Of the four films belonging to the MonsterVerse, "Godzilla vs. Kong" is in third place and that is because of its excellent action scenes, unfortunately it repeats the bad in the development of the human characters and more than anything are the characters that were in the previous film and repeat in this new one, but despite that there are many positive things that can be used for future films belonging to this universe or for the creation of other films that have as protagonist gigantic creatures or creations; there is so much material that can be developed and with this sudden success that GvK has had we can think that this is not the end for this monstrous franchise. My personal wish is as we already saw a possible origin of these creatures, I think it's time to see one where the ancestral struggle between these creatures is better developed, I think it's necessary to do other things, another that for sure we will see Kong as the main character where he is finally recognized as the King he is, there are other things that I thought were great, but I don't want to fall into spoilers and hopefully you (if you are fans of these movies) can grasp them when you see it; I know it is not perfect by far, but I think it is an entertaining movie, with its flaws and its many virtues and that is why my last recommendation is to see this film without great expectations, do not focus on non-important characters, only on the real protagonists, Godzilla and Kong.
