Desde el comienzo de mi adolescencia he sido un gran seguidor del rock, escuchar música con un volumen muy alto, tal como si no hubiera mañana y cuando pude ir a conciertos de rock con mis amigos, así sean en locales pequeños o estadios grandes, siempre tuve la sensación de ser una estrella de rock, inmortal que nada malo pudiera sucederme, adrenalina pura sin más que agregar, ya de adulto fue disminuyendo el ir a conciertos y de escuchar música a todo volumen, solo con mis audífonos puestos donde solo yo puedo disfrutar de gran música en mi mundo y la vez siempre sintiendo que nada malo puede pasarme; son sensaciones egoístas o liberares, pero creo que al ser dependiente de cosas que te hacen sentir bien y conectado a algo que es importante que se volvió parte importante de lo que he vivido, es por eso que al saber de este film se volvió una prioridad poder verlo porque pensaba que era una historia en donde se enfocaba lo importante de la música en nuestras vidas y que al perderlo pudiera afectarnos, pero para mi sorpresa este film es mucho más.

Since the beginning of my adolescence I have been a great rock fan, listening to music at a very high volume, just as if there were no tomorrow and when I could go to rock concerts with my friends, whether in small places or big stadiums, I always had the feeling of being a rock star, immortal that nothing bad could happen to me, pure adrenaline without anything else to add, as an adult I was decreasing going to concerts and listening to music at full volume, only with my headphones on where only I can enjoy great music in my world and at the same time always feeling that nothing bad can happen to me; These are selfish or liberating sensations, but I believe that being dependent on things that make you feel good and connected to something that is important has become an important part of what I have experienced, which is why knowing about this film made it a priority to see it because I thought it was a story that focused on the importance of music in our lives and that losing it could affect us, but to my surprise this film is much more.
"Sound Of Metal" es un drama que nos cuenta la historia de Ruben, un baterista que se encuentra de gira con su banda y vive el mejor momento de su vida, pero todo esto cambiara cuando empiece a perder la audición y es ahí donde descubrirá que tan dependiente es y qué tan desesperado esta en recuperar su antigua vida. Este film fue dirigido y escrito por Darius Marder, esta es su primer largometraje como director ya que su anterior trabajo fue el documental Loot (2008) y su anterior trabajo como guionista fue The Place Beyond the Pines (2012); este film originalmente fue estrenado en el año 2019 en “Toronto International Film Festival", después fue adquirida por Amazon Studios y decidió estrenarla en las salas de cine en Norteamérica para el 20 de noviembre del 2020 y después tener un estreno mundial vía streaming en el pasado diciembre en Amazon Prime Video.
"Sound Of Metal" is a drama that tells the story of Ruben, a drummer who is touring with his band and living the best moment of his life, but all this will change when he begins to lose his hearing and that's when he will discover how dependent he is and how desperate he is to regain his old life. Desde el momento que vi el trailer de este film tuve unas ganas inmediatas de ver esta historia, pensaba que de alguna forma seria un viaje desgarrador hacia la superación y mejora de los personajes involucrados; en ningún momento pensé que fuera predecible o parecida a otras films y me alegre al constatar eso al final de verla, Sound of Metal es muy diferente a lo que podemos ver en tan solo 3 minutos de trailers, es una historia de superación, pero en donde se plantea la pregunta ¿Qué es lo que debemos hacer para ser felices? Esto es una forma muy inteligente de Darius Marder de contar la historia de Ruben; su guion es excelente, igual que su historia contada por un relato crudo, lleno de desesperación, soledad, es algo que puedes sentir desde el comienzo del film, es extenuante ver el esfuerzo de alguien para ser siempre notado y de sentirse importante, es triste y todo se exacerba cuando empieza a perder todo, el guion es de lo mejor y su dirección también, este es un film lleno de detalles que la hacen mejor de lo que ya es, podemos ver escenas con tomas abiertas, pero a la vez tan solas, momentos de tensión en el rostro de una persona mientras pierde lo más importante y hasta podemos sentir paz y calma, sin duda un especial trabajo de Marder.
From the moment I saw the trailer of this film I had an immediate desire to see this story, I thought that somehow it would be a heartbreaking journey to overcome and improve the characters involved, at no time I thought it was predictable or similar to other films and I am glad to see that at the end of it, Sound of Metal is very different from what we can see in just 3 minutes of trailers, is a story of overcoming, but where the question arises What should we do to be happy? This is a very smart way by Darius Marder to tell Ruben's story; his script is excellent, just like his story told by a raw narrative, full of desperation, loneliness, it's something you can feel from the beginning of the film, it's exhausting to see someone's effort to always be noticed and to feel important, it's sad and everything is exacerbated when you start losing everything, the script is of the best and its direction too, this is a film full of details that make it better than it already is, we can see scenes with open shots, but at the same time so alone, moments of tension in the face of a person while he loses the most important thing and we can even feel peace and calm, without a doubt a special work of Marder.
Las actuaciones de sus tres protagonistas le dan una fortaleza desmedida a este film, Riz Ahmed como "Ruben", es de lo mejor, tiene la fortaleza de expresar lo que hace con su música, pero también tiene la calma y felicidad de vivir con alguien a quien ama y quien es parte de su banda de rock, es un personaje directo que busca tener el control, decidido, pero a la vez es alguien completamente dependiente; es impresionante el cómo este actor puede expresar con su mirada y gestos diferentes situaciones en un mismo lugar, expresar sentimientos de felicidad y después de desconcierto por todo lo que este personaje le toca vivir; Olivia Cooke como "Lou" quien es una talentosa mujer, músico y artista, acompañante de Ruben y que será ella el motivo para pueda mejorar y superarse, su trabajo también es excepcional aunque su imagen que nos muestran de este personaje la podemos dividir en dos partes; el tercer personaje importante en este film es "Joe" interpretado por Paul Raci, que gran personaje, que importante para esta historia, creo que cada dialogo entre él y Ruben es perfecto, todas las escenas que comparten son perfectas, reales, llenas de compasión, pero no de lastima y llena de respeto; gran trabajo de estos tres actores.
The performances of his three protagonists give this film an inordinate strength, Riz Ahmed as "Ruben", is one of the best, he has the strength to express what he does with his music, but he also has the calm and happiness of living with someone he loves and who is part of his rock band, he is a direct character who seeks to be in control, determined, but at the same time is someone completely dependent; It is impressive how this actor can express with his look and gestures different situations in the same place, expressing feelings of happiness and after being disconcerted by all that this character has to live; Olivia Cooke as "Lou" who is a talented woman, musician and artist, Ruben's companion and she will be the reason to improve and surpass herself, her work is also exceptional although her image that we show of this character can be divided into two parts; The third important character in this film is "Joe" played by Paul Raci, what a great character, what an important one for this story, I think every dialogue between him and Ruben is perfect, all the scenes they share are perfect, real, full of compassion, but not of pity and full of respect; great work of these three actors.
Este drama crudo, real, directo puede ser considerado como otro historia más de superación, pero para mí es de aceptación y de saber qué es lo que más necesitamos para tener paz, es un film tan lleno de detalles que hace que cada uno de nosotros como espectador podamos sentir lo que vive Ruben, eso es lo que me creó una fuerte impresión, es el detalle a los sonidos porque por ejemplo podemos escuchar de forma clara como suena de fuerte el uso de la licuadora a cómo podemos escuchar casi nada y eso puede hasta llevarnos a sentir la desesperación que siente el personaje principal, en esto radica mucho de que por so piense que este film es uno de los mejores que pude ver el año pasado, es impresionante el cuidado a todo, en historia, en cinematografía, en actuación y por supuesto en el sonido porque sin caer en hacer spoiler (para quien no la haya visto), las escenas de comienzo y final para mí son las que más me han gustado porque en esas escenas observaremos un claro resumen de todo lo que les he descrito, son escenas especiales y cuentan todo sobre un personaje que nunca tuvo una vida fácil y que ha luchado en cada minuto para lograr lo que tiene; para las personas que lean este post y se animen a ver este grandioso film puedo aconsejarles que lo vean con audífonos puestos, yo lo hice y todo toma una dimensión más grande de lo que ya es, espero que disfruten este film, regresen a mi publicación para que dejen su opinión.
