Es inevitable el no ver estrenos de películas basadas en comics cada año, es un negocio que no tiene fin aunque no es perfecto porque existe la gran presión de que pueda funcionar en cierto público y así crear las bases para lo que puede ser una exitosa franquicia; una de estas historias que transita en una delgada línea entre el éxito y el fracaso es la uno de los héroes más importantes e influyentes en la historia del comic, Batman es uno de los personajes que puede ser visto justamente en otros personajes en DC Comics y Marvel Comics y es por eso que en cada una de sus interpretaciones en la versión de acción-real, crea en el fandom una preocupación por si es perfecta o no. Muchas versiones (entre TV y películas) se ha visto de este personaje y en todas se ha creado un debate el cual cada vez es más extenso porque se discute la importancia sobre el protagonista principal, aliados, villanos, vehículos, armas, su manera de pelear y claro, un gran e importante protagonista que inició todo, la ciudad de Gótica; cada una de estas características deberán brindar lo que necesita ver leales y nuevos fans para dar su aprobación y que está nueva versión sea considerada una de las mejores o no. En esta oportunidad quiero para realizar algo diferente con respecto a cómo hago las reseñas porque aprovecho que "The Batman" se estrenó ya hace dos meses en los cines y hace unas semanas fue su estreno en HBO Max; con esto no quiero decir que este post este lleno de spoilers porque en realidad no me gusta, pero si puedo hacer referencia a escenas o momentos relevantes en el film.

It is inevitable not to see comic book based movies released every year, it is a never ending business although it is not perfect because there is a lot of pressure to make it work for a certain audience and create the basis for what can be a successful franchise; One of these stories that walks a fine line between success and failure is one of the most important and influential heroes in the history of comics, Batman is one of the characters that can be seen in other characters in DC Comics and Marvel Comics and that is why in each of its interpretations in the live-action version, creates in the fandom a concern about whether it is perfect or not. Many versions (between TV and movies) have been seen of this character and all have created a debate which is becoming more extensive because it discusses the importance of the main protagonist, allies, villains, vehicles, weapons, their way of fighting and of course, a great and important protagonist who started it all, the city of Gotham; each of these features should provide what you need to see loyal and new fans to give their approval and that this new version is considered one of the best or not. This time I want to do something different with respect to how I do the reviews because I take advantage that "The Batman" was released two months ago in theaters and a few weeks ago was its premiere on HBO Max; with this I do not mean that this post is full of spoilers because I really do not like, but if I can make reference to relevant scenes or moments in the film.
The Power of The City
La ciudad de Gotham es siempre un protagonista importante aunque siendo sincero eso lo pude notar en los films dirigidos por Burton, Nolan y Snyder; por eso creo que si está nueva historia enfocada en el segundo año de este vigilante oscuro, la ciudad debería ser muy importancia y así es; Reeves pudo mostrar diferentes versiones de la ciudad, por ejemplo una muy privilegiada y otra no tanto, pero pienso que se enfocó en el centro de la ciudad, una muy habitada, con mucho tráfico vehicular y de personas, un lugar frío, en donde el trabajo de la policía sea sumamente difícil porque no se puede estar en todos lados y tampoco proteger a tantos habitantes, creo que eso influye en que está ciudad sea completamente oscura, los colores predominantes son el negro, gris, beige y en donde lo único resaltante son algunas luces de neón, ya que en varias de sus escenas son nocturnas, nubladas, con lluvia y esto hace que la ciudad sea más difícil porque pareciera que se contagia de la poca esperanza que tienen todos sus habitantes de conseguir algo mejor. Gotham como ciudad, es un sitio difícil de vivir porque tanto en la superficie como en los más profundo existe personas que quieran adueñarse y controlarla; en esta historia existe muchos factores que hacen que se creen alianzas para controlar todo, caras que serán conocidas como parte de un sistema justo y otras que todos saben que existe, pero se rehúsan a aceptar que son los que verdaderamente rigen a su ciudad, creo que esto me fascina mucho en esta historia porque demuestra lo peligrosa que es la ciudad y lo difícil que será de salvarla.
The city of Gotham is always an important protagonist although to be honest I could notice that in the films directed by Burton, Nolan and Snyder; that's why I think that if this new story focused on the second year of this dark vigilante, the city should be very important and it is; Reeves could show different versions of the city, for example a very privileged one and another one not so much, but I think he focused on the center of the city, a very inhabited one, with a lot of vehicular traffic and people, a cold place, where the work of the police is extremely difficult because you can't be everywhere and neither protect so many inhabitants, I think that influences the fact that this city is completely dark, the predominant colors are black, gray, beige and where the only highlights are some neon lights, as in several of its scenes are night, cloudy, rainy and this makes the city more difficult because it seems to be infected by the little hope that all its inhabitants have to get something better. Gotham as a city, is a difficult place to live because both on the surface and in the deepest there are people who want to take over and control it; in this story there are many factors that make alliances are created to control everything, faces that will be known as part of a fair system and others who all know it exists, but refuse to accept that they are the ones who truly govern their city, I think this fascinates me a lot in this story because it shows how dangerous the city is and how difficult it will be to save it.

Matt Reeves hizo referencia en sus redes sociales sobre el uso de los famosos villanos que debe enfrentar este héroe en varias de sus historias y para ser sincero no tuve ninguna preocupación porque a pesar de que no me gusta ver muchos villanos dentro de una historia, creo que lo que hizo Nolan en "The Dark Knight" enseño cómo hacer relevantes en cierto momento a cada uno de estos personajes y justamente Reeves con Peter Craig en el guion que escribieron, le dieron muy buenos momentos a cada uno de estos personajes en una versión que considero de origen porque tengo la sensación que cada uno deberá evolucionar para ser aún más peligrosos de lo que ya son. Tener en una misma historia a Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler y Falcone se puede considerar arriesgado, pero como dije anteriormente, todo está bien desarrollado desde el guion y junto a la dirección de Reeves y la actuación de Zoë Kravitz, Colin Farrell, Paul Dano y John Turturro pienso que no existió ningún problema en ver a estos personajes en la gran pantalla; cada quien tiene importancia porque mientras una transita en la línea delgada del bien y el mal, los demás tienen noción de saber quiénes son en esta historia, no son héroes, nunca serán considerados como tal y sus prácticas por supuesto dictaminan quienes deberán ser en un futuro, los que deberán adueñarse de Gotham o querer verla hundida en el caos.
Matt Reeves made reference in his social networks about the use of the famous villains that this hero must face in several of his stories and to be honest I didn't have any concern because even though I don't like to see many villains within a story, I think that what Nolan did in "The Dark Knight" taught how to make each one of these characters relevant at a certain moment and precisely Reeves with Peter Craig in the script they wrote, gave very good moments to each one of these characters in a version that I consider of origin because I have the feeling that each one will have to evolve to be even more dangerous than they already are. Having Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler and Falcone in the same story can be considered risky, but as I said before, everything is well developed from the script and together with the direction of Reeves and the acting of Zoë Kravitz, Colin Farrell, Paul Dano and John Turturro I think there was no problem in seeing these characters on the big screen; each one is important because while one walks the fine line of good and evil, the others have a sense of who they are in this story, they are not heroes, they will never be considered as such and their practices of course dictate who they should be in the future, who should take over Gotham or want to see it plunged into chaos.
Allies
Muy pocas veces he visto en versiones cinematográficas (también en la serie televisiva) una relación entre James Gordon y Batman como se ve en este film; me gustó la interacción entre ambos personajes, existe una gran camaradería que parece que se originó al atrapar a un terrible criminal y eso forjó una inesperada amistad llena de admiración y mucha confianza; entre ellos y "Oz" forman parte de una de mis escenas favoritas en dónde la mano derecha de Falcone los define de una manera perfecta y porque también le da una parte de comedia a este thriller y es que existe una buena química entre ellos, ya que creen que con su trabajo dentro de lo correcto podrán salvar a la ciudad, posiblemente este es una gran primera versión del "Dúo Dinámico" por así decirlo. Sobre "Alfred Pennyworth" puedo decir que me hubiera gustado ver mucho más, pero la participación de Serkis interpretando a este personaje es correcta, es leal, inteligente y un apoyo incondicional sin importar absolutamente nada, tiene la frase correcta, el momento correcto y creo que más que nada tiene un gran entendimiento por lo que sufre Bruce, pero tiene la fuerza para corregir y así hacerlo entrar en razón cuando debe derribar los muros y mostrar vulnerabilidad; otra gran compañera es "Selina Kyke" es otra gran aliada, ni tan héroe ni mucho menos villano, no es una mala persona aunque hace cosas fuera de la ley y eso en la mente de Batman es inaceptable; la actuación de Kravitz me gustó mucho, es elegante, sexy, peligrosa, vulnerable, decidida y valiente, es una gran versión de Catwoman y espero que pronto ver mucho más.
Very few times I have seen in film versions (also in the TV series) a relationship between James Gordon and Batman as seen in this film; I liked the interaction between both characters, there is a great camaraderie that seems to have originated when catching a terrible criminal and that forged an unexpected friendship full of admiration and a lot of trust; between them and "Oz" are part of one of my favorite scenes where Falcone's right hand defines them in a perfect way and because it also gives a part of comedy to this thriller and there is a good chemistry between them, as they believe that with their work within the right thing they can save the city, possibly this is a great first version of the "Dynamic Duo" so to speak. About "Alfred Pennyworth" I can say that I would have liked to see much more, but the participation of Serkis playing this character is correct, he is loyal, intelligent and an unconditional support no matter absolutely nothing, he has the right phrase, the right moment and I think more than anything he has a great understanding for what Bruce suffers, but he has the strength to correct and thus make him come to his senses when he must break down the walls and show vulnerability; another great sidekick is "Selina Kyke" she is another great ally, not so much hero nor much less villain, she is not a bad person although she does things outside the law and that in Batman's mind is unacceptable; Kravitz's performance I liked a lot, she is elegant, sexy, dangerous, vulnerable, determined and brave, she is a great version of Catwoman and I hope to see much more soon.
The Batman
Diferentes versiones hemos visto de este personaje, creo que la de Keaton y de Bale, son similares a la de esta versión y con esto me refiero a que en esas historias vimos el segundo año de Batman como el vigilante de Gotham. En el primer film de Burton, Batman usa la intimidación y el miedo como herramientas para hacer justicia; en el segundo film de Nolan, Batman quien también usa la intimidación contra los criminales, todavía no es el héroe que esa ciudad necesita y es hasta visto como una amenaza para los entes de seguridad; en esta historia y para este tiempo de Batman en la ciudad de Gótica, este inexperimentado héroe solo sabe usar la fuerza, la intimidación y el miedo para enfrentar a una ciudad corrupta y quebrada, un plan nada perfecto, pero que por los momentos llena el vacío y odio que siente este personaje que cada noche busca venganza; esto es una opinión sobre motivos y parte de la versión de Batman para este film, pero existen otra cosa más y es la culpa que tiene este futuro héroe, le dolor que padece por la pérdida de sus padres hace 20 años le persiguen y lo transformaron en lo que es y eso se nota en cada momento en este film; es alguien que no tiene paz, que como dije sufre y por momentos no ha dejado de ser ese niño que perdió a sus padres, es por eso que se le dificulta como enfrentar una ciudad llena de criminales y para él la solución inmediata es rebajarse a su nivel, pero ciertas cosas lo harán entender que deberá ser más que un vigilante, ser un símbolo de esperanza para una ciudad herida y llena de rabia; esto que he descrito de personaje en ese film es lo que más me ha gustado, es lo mejor y por eso pienso que Robert Pattinson realizó un gran trabajo al interpretar a este atormentado personaje que seguramente deberá sufrir más para ser un héroe definitivo.
Different versions we have seen of this character, I think the Keaton and Bale, are similar to this version and by this I mean that in those stories we saw the second year of Batman as the vigilante of Gotham. In the first Burton film, Batman uses intimidation and fear as tools for justice; in the second Nolan film, Batman, who also uses intimidation against criminals, is still not the hero that city needs and is even seen as a threat to law enforcement; in this story and for this time of Batman in the city of Gotham, this inexperienced hero only knows how to use force, intimidation and fear to face a corrupt and broken city, a far from perfect plan, but that for the moment fills the emptiness and hatred that this character feels and that every night seeks revenge; this is an opinion about motives and part of the version of Batman for this film, but there is something else and that is the guilt that this future hero has, the pain he suffers for the loss of his parents 20 years ago haunts him and transformed him into what he is and that is noticeable at every moment in this film; he is someone who has no peace, who as I said suffers and at times has not stopped being that child who lost his parents, that is why it is difficult for him how to face a city full of criminals and for him the immediate solution is to lower himself to their level, but certain things will make him understand that he must be more than a vigilante, be a symbol of hope for a wounded city full of rage; what I have described about the character in that film is what I liked the most, it's the best and that's why I think that Robert Pattinson did a great job playing this tormented character who will surely have to suffer more to be a definitive hero.

Cómo breve pensamiento final sobre esta película diré que está es una de las mejores adaptaciones cinematográficas que he visto sobre una historia basada en un comic y es que las referencias de “Batman: Year One” y “The Long Halloween” son evidentes, pero también hay homenajes a la serie televisiva de los 60' y porque no hasta de los otros films realizados sobre este personaje; sé que hubo quejas con respecto al tiempo de duración, pero creo que por la historia que es, un thriller, una historia de detectives protagonizada por uno de los héroes de comics más importante en la historia y que demuestra una forma diferente de hacer este tipo de películas porque a pesar de ser sería, violenta y hasta posiblemente terrorífica, también tiene momentos de humor, claro no tan marcados como otras producciones, pero si momentos divertidos, por todo eso la considero un film completo y uno de los mejores que he visto en este año dentro del renglón de este estilo de películas.
As a brief final thought about this film I will say that this is one of the best film adaptations I've seen on a story based on a comic book and is that references to "Batman: Year One" and "The Long Halloween" are evident, but there are also homages to the TV series of the 60's and why not even to the other films made about this character; I know there were complaints about the length, but I think for the story that it is, a thriller, a detective story starring one of the most important comic book heroes in history and that shows a different way of making this type of film because despite being serious, violent and possibly even terrifying, it also has moments of humor, of course not as marked as other productions, but funny moments, for all that I consider it a complete film and one of the best I've seen this year in the line of this style of films.
