The world has changed. New York has been invaded; everyone must remain silent and not utter a single word to preserve their life. The monsters are everywhere, and paradoxically, salvation lies in water.
The only film I managed to watch last month was A Quiet Place: Day One, which, by coincidence, is still trending on Netflix. The plot is a fiction that depicts the end of the world due to an alien invasion. The chaos unfolds in New York City, the most cosmopolitan city on the planet.
What mainly caught my attention about the film is that the protagonist suffers from a terminal illness. In the midst of the alien invasion, she strives to survive. The film presents an unforced inclusion, in a natural way, showing a protagonist in critical health and a strong will to live. Furthermore, the protagonist is an Afro-descendant woman.
Are the scenes good? Some more than others. The way each scene is crafted sparks deep debate due to the lack and deterioration accumulated in productions of this type. The film industry has used and exploited the concept of alien invasion indiscriminately. You know what I mean.
Amid the chaos caused by the invasion and the destruction of a systematically peaceful world, humans are forced to not utter a single word. Making noise is now forbidden. You can’t speak, shout, move objects, or throw stones. Life itself has been condemned to perpetual silence.
The only way to escape this sentence is to flee the city. One by one, the characters die as they encounter the protagonist. The reason is simple: living means making noise. It’s inevitable; it’s part of our nature.
Bearing the burden of not speaking and controlling everything around you creates tremendous mental pressure. The discomfort in each human being is dramatic and overwhelming. It makes you reflect and appreciate the simplicity of life.
One thing that intrigued me was how quickly the system collapsed in the United States; the deterioration and the chain of information were abruptly interrupted. However, the military attempts to save as many people as possible.
Actress Lupita Nyong’o does a great job, evoking emotion, honesty, and the drama of a person fighting to live. There is one interesting aspect I’d like to highlight from the film: the intrinsic desire for freedom that characterizes Americans. At the end of the film, this yearning is notably apparent in Lupita's character, Samira.
It’s worth mentioning that this film is a prequel and spin-off to the A Quiet Place production. It’s a dramatic way to introduce a work from a few years ago, with a renewed image more adapted to current standards and demands.
It may not be the best movie I’ve seen, but it’s perfect for entertainment and connecting with the main character, who progressively fights to save herself despite her terminal cancer. I’m left with this reflection: roses may wither, but if there is a ray of light, they can still bloom again.

A Quiet Place: Day One - Entre el Caos Florece el Deseo de Vivir
El mundo cambió. Nueva York ha sido invadido; todos deben guardar silencio y no pronunciar ni una sola palabra para preservar su vida. Los monstruos están en todas partes y, paradójicamente, la salvación es el agua.
El único film que pude ver el mes pasado fue A Quiet Place: Day One, que casualmente, aún se encuentra en tendencia en Netflix. La trama es una ficción que representa el fin del mundo debido a la invasión de extraterrestres. El caos ocurre en la ciudad de Nueva York, la más cosmopolita del planeta.
Lo que me llamó la atención del film principalmente es que la protagonista padecía una enfermedad terminal. En medio de la invasión extraterrestre, ella busca sobrevivir. El filme emplea una inclusión no forzada, de manera natural, presentando a una protagonista en condición de salud crítica y un fuerte deseo de vivir. Además, la protagonista es una mujer afrodescendiente.
¿Las escenas son buenas? Algunas más que otras. La manera en que trabajaron en cada uno genera un debate profundo debido a la carencia y deterioro que poseen acumuladamente las producciones de este tipo. La industria cinematográfica ha usado y explotado indiscriminadamente el concepto de invasión extraterrestre. Sabes a qué me refiero.
En medio del caos provocado por la invasión y destrucción de un mundo sistemáticamente pacífico, los seres humanos se ven obligados a no pronunciar ni una sola palabra. Ha quedado prohibido hacer ruido. No se puede hablar, gritar y mover objetos ni lanzar piedras. La vida misma fue condenada a guardar silencio perpetuamente.
La única forma de huir de esta condena es escapar de la ciudad. Cada uno de los personajes va muriendo a medida que se encuentra con la protagonista. La razón es simple: vivir implica hacer ruido. No se puede evitar; es parte de nuestra naturaleza.
Soportar la carga de no hablar y de controlar todo a tu alrededor genera una gran presión mental. El malestar en cada ser humano es dramático y abrumador. Te hace reflexionar y valorar lo sencillo.
Algo que me intrigó fue ver cómo el sistema colapsó tan rápidamente en Estados Unidos; el deterioro y la cadena de información se interrumpieron de forma drástica. Sin embargo, las fuerzas armadas intentan salvar a la mayor cantidad posible de personas.
La actriz Lupita Nyong'o hace un buen trabajo que evoca emotividad, franqueza y el drama de una persona que lucha por vivir. Hay un aspecto interesante que destaco del film: ese deseo intrínseco de libertad que caracteriza a los estadounidenses. Al final del filme, se percibe notablemente ese anhelo en el personaje de Lupita, Samira.
Cabe destacar que este film es una precuela y spin-off de la producción A Quiet Place. Es una manera dramática de dar una introducción de una obra de hace unos años, con una imagen renovada y más adaptada a los estándares y exigencias actuales.
No es la mejor película que he visto, pero es perfecta para entretenerse y conectar con el personaje principal que lucha progresivamente por salvarse a pesar del cáncer terminal. Me quedo con esta reflexión: las rosas pueden marchitarse, pero si hay un rayo de luz, aún pueden volver a retoñar.
