First of all I’d like to say the cast and crew of this movie did an amazing job. The resemblance of actors to the real characters was just amazing. The movie was produced by Warner Bros Media company together with West Brooks.
Lets get ahead with the rest of the movie, the movie is set in Compton California in the late 80’s and early 90’s and it shows how Richard Williams; Serena and Venus’s dad prepared them for their super star roles in the world of tennis a white dominated sports.
The first scene shows Will Smith who happens to act as Richard Williams going to white neighborhoods to talk to potential coaches about the greatness of his girls. It also showed the weak side of their father in the face of violence and how he was willing to protect his daughters at all costs.

As the movie progresses, you’ll see how their father pushes them mentally and physically in order to prepare them for competition and at the same time protecting them from the streets of drugs and crime. The support of their mother was also seen as she work 3jobs trying to provide for the family.
Towards the end of the movie, we see Venus Williams competing in her first professional game after she was stoped by her father from participating in the junior competition. She went on to play the final with the world number one at that time.
Although she didn’t win, she inspired other black girls to dream big and go after their dreams. Nine months after that, she signed a 15million contract with Reebok when she was only 15years old

Thoughts On The Movie
I think the use of strong characters really played a role in the amplification of the movie, I was emotionally moved watching this movie and I think other people would too.
Maybe because it is a true life drama that’s why it is so entertaining to watch.
The movie is longer than 90minutes which I think is so much but at the same time it was worth it.
But I do feel like the use of real life footage at the end of the movie portrayed the true essence of the movie. As it showed the reality and truth behind the scenes.
I would personally rate it a 9/10 because I enjoyed it so well.
Lessons…
Foundational parenting is so important because even if their dad wanted them to play tennis, he also saw that they really enjoyed playing tennis and so he coached and supported them.
It doesn’t matter were you come from as long as you stay dedicated and work hard you will succeed.
Do not take the first deal that comes your way, there will be better offers ahead. Keep going.
Stay humble no matter how many times you win. That way nothing gets into your head!
