Hello to all the cinephiles that give life to the #MoviesAndTVShows community. A couple of days ago I decided to watch a film that caught my attention because of its cover on Netflix and even more when I read the synopsis, it is Mindcage and today I saw it necessary to give you my opinion about it. As usual, I give notice that my publication Does Not Contain Spoilerso that you can read calmly because:

  The film was released in 2022 and was directed by Mauro Borelli, a man who from my point of view is not yet known for any film to date, as he has only made 6 movies, including the one I am reviewing and unfortunately he has not done a good job.

  The film had potential because of the plot, but it was very poorly developed, and unfortunately the script was pretty bad. Even the actors who worked on it failed to make it memorable or at least make you want to watch it more than once. I saw it mostly because it revolves around unsolved crimes, one of those difficult police cases, that grab you in one way or another, even if you are not a fan of this genre.

  The story revolves around a couple of detectives who are in charge of solving a new case about a criminal, who imitates another criminal, who after so many years, was that they managed to catch and convict him. In this film you will find characters played by one of my favorites, who always spectacularly plays the villain: John Malkovich, as well as Martin Lawrence, who worked with Will Smith in the famous movie Bad Boys and last but not least: Robert Knepper who has played the bad guy in many films but this time he played the good cop.

  As for the main actress Melissa Roxburgh, unfortunately, I didn't recognize her, she didn't look familiar and I don't know her from other movies or series. And reviewing her filmography work I confirmed that she is not very popular in Hollywood, but already working with Malkovich she should be catapulted a little more. I think she did not do a good job in this film either.

𝙼𝚢 𝙾𝚙𝚒𝚗𝚒𝚘𝚗 𝙰𝚋𝚘𝚞𝚝 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝙼𝚘𝚟𝚒𝚎

  Honestly, the film seemed to me a copy of *The Silence of the Lambs, where Malkovich only failed to do the Hopkins mouth gesture when he wanted to scare Foster in one of his many visits to the prison. If you don't know what I'm talking about, here's the famous scene from that unforgettable movie:

  And is that both killers look alike, but omitting of course the issue of cannibalism. Both are artists, both are psychopaths and both are interviewed by a detective, in this case Roxburgh who did a lousy job as a cop. It made me doubt if he went to a police academy because of the things he said and did. He lacked a lot. And her acting disappointed me.

  Another actor who did a bad job was Lawrence, but I forgive him because I have already seen his work in other very good movies and he has talent, here, my analytical point of view tells me that the wrong direction of the director and the bad script developed by Reggie Keyohara, of whom I didn't want to investigate what other works he has done, since by what he presented in this film I imagine that he doesn't have much experience as a screenwriter.

𝙵𝚒𝚗𝚊𝚕 𝚂𝚌𝚘𝚛𝚎 & 𝚁𝚎𝚌𝚘𝚖𝚖𝚎𝚗𝚍𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗

  My parents liked the Thriller, and as I said at the beginning, the film had potential since it shows a killer with a lot of styles, it is ruthless and could develop a good mystery throughout the story, but unfortunately everything went downhill. Even the very ending they gave it seemed to me ridiculous and illogical, almost impossible, because the movie is not sci-fi, it's horror/suspense, but anyway, I just want to conclude by saying that I give it 🌟 out of 5 Little Stars. Yes, it was one of the worst movies I've seen this year, and from me:

  Hola a todos los cinéfilos que dan vida a la comunidad de #MoviesAndTVShows. Hace un par de días decidí ver un film que me llamó mucho la atención por su portada en Netflix y más aún al leer la sinopsis, se trata de Mindcage o Jaula Mental en español y hoy vi necesario darle mi opinión al respecto.   La película se estrenó en el año 2022 y fue dirigida por Mauro Borelli, un hombre que desde mi punto de vista no es conocido aún por algún film hasta la fecha, ya que sólo ha hecho 6 películas, incluyendo la que estoy haciendo como reseña y lamentablemente no ha hecho un buen trabajo.

  La película tenía potencial por la trama, pero fue muy mal desarrollada, y lamentablemente el guión fue bastante malo. Incluso los actores que trabajaron en ella, no lograron dar la talla ni hacerla memorable o que al menos te queden ganas de verla más de una vez. La vi más que todo porque gira en torno a crímenes sin resolver, de esos casos policiacos difíciles, que te atrapan de una manera u otra, incluso si no eres fanático de este género.

  La historia gira en torno a una pareja de detectives que se encargan de resolver un nuevo caso sobre un criminal, que imita a otro criminal, quien después de tantos años, fue que lograron atraparlo y condenarlo. En este film encontrarás personajes interpretados por uno de mis favoritos, que siempre hace de villano de forma espectacular: John Malkovich, así como también a Martin Lawrence, quien trabajó con Will Smith en la famosa película Bad Boys y por último pero no menos importante: Robert Knepper quien ha hecho de malvado en muchos films pero en esta ocasión hizo de policía bueno.

  En cuanto a la actriz protagonista Melissa Roxburgh, lamentablemente no la reconocí, no se me hizo familiar y no la conozco en otras películas o series. Y revisando su trabajo de filmografía confirmé que no es muy popular en Hollywood, pero ya por trabajar con Malkovich debería de catapultarse un poco más, aunque en mi opinión, tampoco hizo un buen trabajo en este film.

  Sinceramente la película me pareció una copia del Silencio de los Inocentes, donde a Malkovich sólo le faltó hacer el gesto con la boca de Hopkins cuando quería asustar a Foster en una de sus tantas visitas a la cárcel. Si no saben de qué les hablo, aquí les dejo la famosa escena de aquella inolvidable película:

  Y es que ambos asesinos se parecen, pero omitiendo por supuesto el asunto del canibalismo. Los dos son artistas, los dos son psicópatas y ambos son entrevistados por una detective, en este caso Roxburgh quien hizo un pésimo trabajo como policía. Me hizo dudar si realmente fue a una academia de policía por las cosas que decía y hacía. Le faltó mucho. Y su actuación me decepcionó.

  Otro actor que hizo un mal trabajo fue Lawrence, pero a él se lo perdono porque ya he visto su trabajo en otras películas muy buenas y tiene talento, aquí, mi punto de vista analítico me dice que influyó mucho la dirección errada del director y el mal guión desarrollado por Reggie Keyohara, de quien tampoco me quedaron ganas de investigar qué otros trabajos ha hecho, ya por lo que presentó en esta película imagino que no tiene mucha experiencia como guionista.

  A mis viejos les gustó el Thriller, y es que como dije al principio, el film tenía potencial, ya que plantean un asesino con mucho estilo, es despiadado y por lo que se podía desarrollar un buen misterio a lo largo de la historia, pero lamentablemente todo fue en picada. Hasta el mismo final que le dieron me pareció totalmente ridículo e ilógico, casi imposible, porque la película no es de ciencia ficción, es de terror/suspenso, pero, en fin, yo sólo quiero concluir diciendo que le doy 🌟 de 5 Estrellitas.
