I'm sure a lot of people(mostly League players) told you not to play league of legends just because you finished watching Arcane and they're right, you shouldn't. You're probably thinking oh they're just gate keeping the game to not let non league fans play, you probably think that they are thinking "oh he/she is an arcane fan, they're just band wagoning the success of a league of legends franchise" well I'm here to say that no, they are not. They are trying to protect you from the disappointment that is League of Legends. I am a league player and here are a three reasons why you shouldn't play league of legends after watching arcane. (spoilers ahead)
1 ) Arcane and league of legends are not the same.
just because Arcane is based out of league of legends does not mean they are from the same universe. Arcane basically just took league of legends characters and their stories and gave them a new one. here are some examples.
- Victor and Jayce
In arcane you see them invent Hextech, However in league of legends they merely weaponized it.
- Caitlyn and Vi
As much as you ship them in arcane, they are nothing more than just partners in the league of legends lore.
- Vi and Jinx
In arcane they were sisters but in league of legends it was never really confirmed that they were sisters. in their separate lore each of them had a sister but was not really stated who they were. In the game league of legends they don't call each other "violet" or "powder", in the game Vi calls jinx "JINX" while jinx calls vi "Fat hands".
- Jinx and Ekko
In arcane it only looks like Ekko and Jinx were childhood friends. But, in league of legends lore Ekko had feelings for Jinx. He states it in one of his in game dialogs when he meets jinx, He says "I had a crush, but that was before you started talking to the guns."
2 ) The community is Toxic
I play League of Legends on a daily basis and every day I get frustrated each time I think to myself "Hey, maybe a game of league will help cheer me up?" I regret thinking it everyday. But I am still addicted, its a curse disguised as a blessing. If you've never experienced an online dispute or never really won an online argument with someone and you are feint hearted, then League is not the game for you. Constant harassments of your mother, friends, and family will be used as fuel to tilt your gameplay and those comments are delivered by your teammates, which tilts you even more.
3 ) The game is trash
Coming from a league player you can tell that my comment is both honest and from the heart. most characters in league of legends are completely broken that even the most unexperienced players can play those brain dead characters. I takes no amount of skill and brain cells to operate most characters.
And these are just three reasons why you shouldn't play league of legends after watching arcane. but if you are still not convinced then have a go at the game. This is not a threat just a warning. It is also helpful to like league if you play with friends that you know irl rather than playing with strangers online. Hope that your opinion of arcane does not change after playing league of legends because arcane is a beautifully well made masterpiece that is its own pedestal and should not be seen as the same as league of legends. also note that this post was not made to offend league of legends players, if you are offended then allow me to apologize.
