The nice thing about reviewing is that I can flow between products that I am a huge fan of and others where I am just another member of the general audience... with The Witcher, I belong to the general audience.
Netflix is ending the year with several very commercial products that have caught my attention. Several of them don't have much narrative depth and focus on action and entertainment, but one of the products I saw that stood out from the rest is The Witcher.
I was happy to finish watching the last season of The White Wolf series yesterday on Netflix, and honestly, it's not as bad as they say, narratively speaking. You just have to use your judgment and let your brain adapt to what is supposedly the worst aspect of this season, and I'm referring to the replacement of Henry Cavill with Liam Hemsworth.
As a general audience member, I think the worst thing is not the change of actor, but rather the narrative aspect associated with Princess Cirilla and The Rat Pack, surrounded by a forced atmosphere of inclusivity.
The season lacks narrative depth for reflection, but in terms of the main characters, that is, there are moments for reflection, but they take a back seat. This is worthy of criticism, but it's not exclusive to season 4; it's been happening since season 2, and if it was tolerated then, I think it should be tolerated now, too, only now it stands out more because the favorite actor and soul of the series, Henry Cavill, is no longer there.
Henry Cavill is the least of it. The character of Francesca La Reina Elfa, who has so much to offer, seems to have been explored only superficially. This is much more worthy of criticism, along with Cirilla's cold and lifeless storyline from the previous season.
The worst thing is not the change of actor, but Cirilla's boring storyline since season 2, which sank to a new low in season 4 in terms of writing, but there's always a but...
The above is minimized by the last episode and the character of Leo the Butcher of the Witches. I will dedicate my review to him because he made my season by raising the bloodthirsty level of the series, haha. With only two scenes, Leo is the best of season 4. That's why, in order to judge, you have to watch until the end to be able to have true critical criteria.
Liam does a good job as an actor, and his character's environment is entertaining. There are a few other script horrors that really make you realize that the problem is the writing, but at least the entertainment and action are maintained with secondary characters such as the Dwarves, who also make the season a positive one.
I dedicate each and every one of my posts and videos to my little dog named princess, we called her chiquito, she is no longer with us but from heaven she will see that her existence was valuable and the most beautiful thing that will exist in my heart and soul.
