So far Marvel has not blown me away with their recent TV series and Movies, it does feel like End Game just set the bar too high but at least we not falling into some of the bad bad movies and series they release the last years like SheHulk or The Marvels because aside been female focus content it has nothing to do with it, its the production itself that was trash imo. I decided to watch something that reminds me those good releases like Guardians, this time Vol 3, not necessarily the best one but one of the best in my opinion, a trilogy that is worth watching in a single seat time.
Besides I had another movie blackout where I didn't remember how it exactly ended so decided to re watch, any of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies are a good movie to re watch anytime of the year. I'm not the type of guy who likes too much musical type of scenes but there is something about Guardians that never goes wrong, either its Starlord, Groot or Rocket pulling some leet moves with a sick song at the back, never feels over the top or cringe.

It seems like it was the topic for the movie because not only the script moves you every time Quill remember Gamora but now we got the Rocket story. Through the other movies it was evident he has a soft spot or let say horrific memories of how he turn into the android he is, it was a world of pain and experiments that he went through at the hands of "The High Evolutionary. LOL this is something I really enjoy about Guardians, how most of the movie dialogue can be so funny even when they are serious, such a ridiculous name for the main villain.
What makes these horrific flashbacks of when Rocket was just a little Racoon is how he team up with others who had worst luck than him at been failed experiments, seen hope and friendship between these animals as they dream escape and most at very young age, only to constantly face horrendous consequences at the hands of The High Evolutionary. It was Rocket's high intelligence that makes him special after all and that's what test the High Evolutionary ego too, things were so bad that at first it look like Rocket didn't want anything to do with it even at been an adult but latter on revenge end up been so sweet.
Guardians probably same as Thor movies is not one to be strange to emotional scenes, this movies have always been about found family and this time on Vol 3 shows even more by showing just how much they have all grown together as a squat and probably how lucky Rocket was after everything he went through. I have to say James Gunn did just a terrific job directing Guardians and not let it be all about fights, shooting and explosions, the story telling goes deep through the flashbacks of Rocket story and makes you care about the furry guy, even if he is not human.
The movie does feel a bit long with 2.5 hours and might tire viewers, I certainly at a point felt it was enough with the flashbacks and was asking for them to kill the High Evolutionary already, felt like the flashbacks sometimes break the rhythm of the story. There is also the Adam Warlock story line that in my opinion doesn't get much development and context, probably a character that the movie could have exploited way more, I think this happen mostly because every other character wanted a piece of the scene and just with the Guardians we talking 7 OG characters adding the ones who team with them along the movie so yeah that splits too much the screen time and tends to make the movie so long. These are just some minor complains I had about it although watching a movie this long does makes it feels more immerse on top of the satisfying conclusion to the trilogy.
There is a lot of dark humor during the movie and some times just too cruel in my opinion on both sides the good and bad guys, special everything that surrounds Rocket and The High Evolutionary, the experiments are very disturbing, along with some of the most creative yet simple character designs of the MCU, probably some of them felt visually a bit SAW ish, like the spider bunny with the steel jaws or the Sea Lion on wheels, seriously its on the edge of feeling disgust and sorry for some of them until they talk, that's the moment you feel sorry and have empathy for them but visually they went over the board with it.
The movie also cut for good Peter's mourning not only by going to Earth but also Gamora left, this new Gamora always felt she was not part of the team and had no connection to Peter so she returns to the Ravagers for new adventures, it would be interesting if in the future we have Gamora movies although she is probably too much a support character for that to happen, may be she might show up in movies like Valkire does on Thor movies eventually, I would consider that going split ways generate the opportunity for new adventures to be develop for each one of the characters, but with the current state of the MCU its very hard to think they would put effort of Guardians just two years after their last movie.
