While series like Walking Dead or Resident Evil never gave us a reason of why and where this virus evolve or even came from now HBO comes with The Last of US with Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, Im a hard CORE GOAT and NARCOS fan so I'm sold from the minute I saw their pictures, didn't even have to know what the series was about. I'm the type of gamer that only races, I don't play games based on any type or history unless it is mythical like God of War. But as a Tv Series it got me hooked from the first episode, considering this article is based on the first three episodes since I want to continue writing about it.
First minute things were going to go south was when Mercy the neighbors dog start to stair at her Ill Nana, just watching her getting infected with this new virus, actually fungus that nobody thought about, we live in an era of drop ship and warehouse that sometimes the brand we paying for is not the one actually producing or holding the final product is just s brand that transport, many people around the world gets infected not even without traveling, its fungus that evolves in our current echo system and takes over, there was no need to cancel flights or ship, the contagion was spread over the food supply chain as they explain on the start of this episode.
I'm not probably the best story telling but here we got one of the best actors alive Pedro Pascal, if you know you know but the guy have work on The Mandalorian, Game of Thrones, Narcos, Wonder Woman 1984 just to mention some of his latest appearance, from the start no matter what's going to happen I knew Pedro would not disappoint me.
As many other end of the world stories, Joel Miller daughter Sarah Miller, wake up to helicopters and patrols going around the neighborhood and Mercy knocking on her door, seems animals are not familiar to infected people and Mercy didn't want to get back "home", her owners turn out to be a victim of the fungus and were the first infected that we know, the series show as a classic zombie outrage, victims bitten by those infected and blood all over the floor.
I knew from this episode that at least this story was different than the many other zombie apocalypse type series and better.
Joe shows up with Tommy after he bail him out of jail to go south if possible, Sarah was scared and was worried about their neighbors or not being sick but Joe had an idea, ppl were shown being sick after seven minutes of being bitten. None of the three were bitten so far and were trying to get as far as they could until they found themselves in a small town with a big commercial plane crashing on that same road. Many people, some dead, some infected were all spread on the road, those infected already eating the ones alive.
After the accident they get out of the car, Sarah had her ankle twist, Joe had to carry her to find out that everyone on the street had turn and are killing the rest of the people alive, they start to run until they get to the back of one of town commerce and military find him, military get their orders staring and attempt to kill them until Tommy shows up and kill the military.
The military at first try to put down Joe and Sarah but he only hit her, transforming Joe for the rest of the series, something that will become a burn for the rest of series probably, losing his daughter just because human fear what they cant understand, at the moment they were not tested or infected.
The city is dominated by military, soldiers on every corner and a revel ion taking place, Joe and his girlfriend find themself in the middle of the fight, being some that get access to the outside of the city and start to import illegal drugs and supplies for guards.
Comes Ellie Williams, a girl who have no idea why she is being retained by the fire flights, the revel ion that Joe and his partner are part for , Ellie turns out the be the only and risk real person alive who doesn't get infected by the fungus, Ellie has mark from the first day she got bite.
The Fire Flights, rebels fighting against the military, by accident get to Ellie and now attempt to get Ellie out of the city and have an entire team outside of the city to get her to a compound where they would develop a cure based on Ellie dna who is supposed to be the solution to this war against the fungus.
All three first episodes are very well develop, the first episode do tell the basics of the story and doesn't leave you with lots of questions but do makes you want more episodes, I like to watch if possible an entire season without having to wait for episodes every week but I have to say Im ok waiting for the Last of Us, episodes are over 1 hour that helps too, my only concern is that The Last of Us is a game, at some point they will just keep making games and the tv show? or they will only produce what makes them more money? I think keep the tv series alive makes more money since you have a more versatile audience of all ages.
PS: This article I publish last night by accident, fall sleep on my keyboard and hit Publish by accident, wake up and saw this draft of the article publish so had to edit.
