At this point of the story we see Joel and Ellie get along much better, the series begins to take that panorama of a post apocalyptic world where the only free human beings left on earth seek to survive and on many occasions abusing others. For Joel, sharing with Ellie is like having a second daughter that he never asked for, Ellie being quite rude, raw, she doesn't know many things about the outside world since she was born and grew up inside one of the military shelters, in this episode we also see how Joel starts to know certain facets of Ellie that were not expected.
If you have seen the other episodes you should know that Joel does not share the idea that Ellie carries a weapon, in this episode we see Ellie in the first scene already with a weapon, a situation very similar to the one Rick had with his son Carl at an early age. age in The Walking Dead, if you are a fan of this type of series you will have deduced that soon Ellie was about to shoot someone either directly or accidentally. I compare these two series a lot since they share the entire post-apocalyptic environment, only The Last of Us seems to have differences that help me want to continue watching it, The Walking Dead was all gray and sad, you know that in each episode there would be some tragedy, sometimes They just didn't want to keep watching it, who wants to be sad all the time?
If we think a little beyond the meanings of the scenes, Ellie's behavior in the series tells you that even though she has gone through many things, such as being kidnapped, being the subject of an experiment where they kept her chained up, waiting if she would turn into a zombie. or not, the fact that from the beginning she had a knife and knew how to use it very well, now we see her with a weapon and she is not strange in how to manipulate it but neither an expert, it tell us how she is still a girl behind her jokes that she is having to adapt to a violent and hopeless world, even so Ellie is the solution to this epidemic the social problem is much bigger than the infection.
Joel and Ellie embark on a land trip using the car that Bill left with enough food, ammunition and fuel for a few days, in this series my expectation is fo it to bring something different to the story, different from the other post apocalyptic series, during the trip Joel and Ellie make the first stop in a forest, Joel mentions that they are far enough away so that the infected are not the problem but the humans are, this episode becomes a bit predictive in terms of the classic scenarios that occur in a series on this topic. Something that I like but sometimes annoys me is how persistent and at the same time irritating that Ellie can be with all her questions to the point that she leads others to talk about what they don't want to, she pushes Joel to talk about his brother and why he wants to go looking for him? Even Joel is spending several days with Ellie which eventually in the series is going to make him consider her family, but I still think that he doesn't trust or have much sympathy for her yet, from the beginning he didn't want to have the responsibility of protecting Ellie but to no end not hate her for it, he knows that she is just a girl who is not to blame for anything that has happened and it is in those moments that he is noble and protects her, Joel does not want her to go through all the bad things that he has done and seen other humans do during times of need.
After traveling for many hours they find themselves ambushed in Kansas, this is when they begin to meet the type of humans who just want to survive, they are ambushed by a group of armed men, after Joel runs over one of them he crashes into an abandoned laundry establishment and these other humans open fire to kill. Joel until this moment is unaware that Ellie has a weapon, Joel is attacked from behind and pinned to the floor suffocating, in the moment of desperation Elli first takes her knife but then remembers the weapon she had in her backpack and shoots the guy from behind, Joel's attacker, after this Joel takes the weapon from her and tell her to hide, once she no longer saw them, Ellie sheds a tear, she acted in a moment of desperation but when she is already aware of the situation he feels remorse that Joel coldly killed the attacker, another human as her.
In this episode we are going to see the survival attitudes that all the actors are developing within the series, remember that each episode is more than an hour and it feels as if each episode were a movie, in episode four I meet a familiar actress , in a funny way, not the first time I see her act like a cold-blooded psychopath, only this time it is not funny, Melanie Lynskey plays the role of Kathlen
Leader of a rebel group, I remember her from the comedy Two and Half men but It is the first time that I see her in this role of a cold-blooded murderous dictator, in the short time that she appears during the episode she only talks about locating and killing, she begins to develop the story of a community of humans who live as refugees after rebelling against the military but they are still looking for a certain Henry, during the time I was writing this short article I thought of looking for who Henry is, you know that the game was already written and for those who did not play it, the series is more interesting but I was going to use the Wiki of the game to find out who this character is but I didnt since it would spoil the series, the rest of the episode becomes quite slow but it is normal, not everything can be action and Joel and Ellie go from building to building until they take refuge in a 33rd floor thinking that no one would find them until Henry finds them, how ironic but I liked it, I also didn't think that of all the people Henry would find them.
I really liked this episode, the series does not feel rushed and I hope it doesnt change the pace since I know that if it did, the production would be risking the integrity of the series because those who have played The Last of Us would strongly criticize them.
Thanks for reading, hope you enjoy my content 😁✌️
