Lately, I've been dwelling on K-drama's, my list on Netflix is literally packed with them. I love romance, I love watching people eat, I love comedy, I love mysterynot the type in horror films please so why not?
"What's Wrong with Secretary Kim" is a romantic comedy TV series that effortlessly weaves humor, romance, and a touch of mystery into an addictive package. Directed by Park Joon-Hwa and based on a popular webtoon, this K-drama had my attention from the very first episode.was released in 2018
The series revolves around the seemingly perfect Lee Young-joon, played brilliantly by Park Seo-joon, who is a successful, arrogant vice-president of a major company. His long-serving secretary, Kim Mi-so, portrayed by the talented Park Min-young, decides to resign after nine years of service. This decision triggers a series of events that lead to a beautifully crafted exploration of their relationship.
The character development is a highlight; we see Young-joon's transformation from an egotistical CEO to someone more human, and Mi-so's journey from a selfless assistant to a woman rediscovering her own dreams.
Romance and Chemistry:
The romantic tension between the lead characters is palpable, and the sizzling on-screen chemistry between Park Seo-joon and Park Min-young is undeniable. Every stolen glance, witty banter, and moment of vulnerability kept me rooting for their relationship.
Humor and Wit:
This series, shines in the humor department. It is packed with hilarious one-liners, quirky supporting characters, and amusing situations. It successfully balances the light hearted comedy with the deeper emotional moments. It's not one of those series where romance takes up the whole show. In this one, there are some good spice ups that'd interest you even if you're no lover or romance stories. Hehehe
Cinematography and Music:
One thing I adore so much in any movie I'm seeing is it's cinematography. If it's poor, then it's a no, no. Visually, this show is a treat! The vibrant colors and aesthetically pleasing settings in the corporate world of "Yoomyung Group" make the show even more engaging. I especially loved the display of foods, I watch K-drama mostly to see them eat. Lol. The soundtrack, with its catchy tunes, also enhances the viewing experience.
All in all, "What's Wrong with Secretary Kim" is a delightful romantic comedy that expertly captures the essence of a K-drama. It's a blend of humor, romance, character growth, and a dash of mystery, all served with a touch of heart. I couldn't help but binge-watch this series, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to fans of K-dramas and rom-coms alike.
