If you are reading this, you, like myself, have been enjoying the new Disney+ series Moon Knight and what is unfolding each week. This week we learn a lot because there is a lot that goes down! So much that I won't cover it all, and only spoil just a little bit.
The episode unravels a lot this time, starting off with giving some back story to Marc's love interest Layla. It seems she is like an "Indian Jones" type of thief and her and Marc have quite the history. In episode 3 they are back at it as a team, of sorts, to beat Arthur's plans to resurrect Ammit yet again.
As you can imagine things don't go according to plan and the two get themselves in a situation that needs some Moon Knight level of fixing.
These were some of the best fight scenes we have seen in Moon Knight so far. We ever learn about how great the suit Khonshu bestows to Marc(a healing factor that is on par with Wolverine), and even Steven. Steven in the "Inspector style" suit still cracks me up.
What I found very cool in this episode is that we are seeing the other avatars from the other Egyptian gods and the gods themselves interacting through them. This also reveals how the other gods feel about Khonshu and what he has been up to down on earth.
Good ole Arthur enters into the scene(invited by the gods) and ruins the plans Marc and Khonshu have to stop Arthur and does so in a very humiliating fashion. This leads to desperate measures that Khonshu has to take. Along with Steven, this time as Inspector Knight, Khonshu channels his power to make the night skies go back in time and it spectacular.
Rember how I mentioned we may just be seeing a 3rd personality emerging with the mind of Marc Spector? Well, if you recall in episode 1, Steven came to, and there were bloody bodies all around him and we thought it was probably Marc. Something similar happens in this episode and we find out that it was not Marc or Steven. What is believed to be happening is that Jake Lockley's personality is making more of a presence.
Who is Jack Lockley?
...a rough-and-tumble cab driver with his finger on the pulse of the deepest reaches of the seedy underworld and a wealth of criminal connections
While undercover as Jake Lockley, Moon Knight developed a network of informants and spies that allowed him to stay one step ahead of his enemies and criminal targets. But at the same time, the addition of Lockley to Spector's arsenal of disguises marked the start of his deeper struggles with his identity.
All in all, there was so much going on in this episode and I am even more excited to see how the events of the next episode unfold with what happened to Khonshu, the ever-growing emergence of Ammit, and how this 3rd personality with go down.
