If you know me a little bit, then you probably know that I am a big fan of VPN services, and that I have written a lot of articles about how you can use different VPN services to get access to streaming services all around the globe, including how you can watch content on Netflix in other countries.
This is very useful, because if you are a fan of the TV series 24 (with Kiefer Sutherland), then you can only watch it on Netflix in Germany, so you need to either live in Germany or use a VPN that gives you access to German Netflix in order to watch it there. In the same way, there are lots of TV series available on Netflix in Canada and in the USA that you cannot find elsewhere in the world.

A lot changed in 2016 as Netflix expanded to all around the world, but the VPN providers quickly found solutions, and they have been working properly for 4-5 years since then. But recently, Netflix seems to have attacked the VPN providers once again, and currently, you will have great trouble finding any VPN provider at all that will give you access to the content on Netflix in Germany, in the UK, in Canada, in the USA, in Japan, and elsewhere in the world.
I guess the VPN providers are working to find solutions to the problem once again, but my personal opinion is that Netflix should be able to block all of them quite easily, at least if they really want to do so. There will be workarounds still for private persons who setup private VPN servers elsewhere, but the big corporate VPN services should be quite easy to block for Netflix.
Why unblocking Netflix with VPNs becomes less and less interesting.
I am not entirely right about this yet, because just as I mentioned earlier, there are lots of TV series and movies that you can only stream in certain countries on Netflix. But, Netflix is turning more and more into a global streaming service, meaning that the differences between countries is becoming smaller and smaller. As a result, unblocking content using VPN services is becoming less and less interesting, but we are not there at all yet!
What will the future bring? I guess the VPN providers are working their butts off to solve the problem. The question is how hard Netflix will keep on working to block them with their new attempts? If this was a one-time job, then the VPN providers will solve it soon. If this is a constant battle that Netflix has started, then it will most likely mean the end of an era in which you could unblock Netflix using a VPN.
