Today I have the pleasure to share with you a glimpse of a Netflix miniseries which I enjoyed too much from chapter 1 , it is "Madame C.J. Walker: A self-made woman" this production touches quite deep themes that will leave you beautiful teachings and a great inspiration to persist and achieve whatever we set our minds to.

El día de hoy tengo el gusto de compartir con ustedes un vistazo de una miniserie de Netflix la cual disfruté demasiado desde el capítulo 1 , se trata de “Madam C.J. Walker: Una mujer hecha a si misma” esta producción toca temas bastante profundos que te dejarán hermosas enseñanzas y una gran inspiración para persistir y conseguir lo que sea que nos propongamos.

Sarah Breedlove, mostly known as Madame C.J. Walker was an American businesswoman who owned the title of the first African American to become a millionaire in the United States, this Netflix adaptation based on her biography portrays her life and the way in which she became the owner of such fortune by her own means.
This miniseries consists of 4 chapters that narrate her trajectory as a person, showing us the harsh reality of black people in the early twentieth century and all the obstacles they had to survive due to the great racism that prevailed at the time.

Walker fue una empresaria estadounidense dueña del título de la primera afroamericana en convertirse en millonaria en Los Estados Unidos, esta adaptación de Netflix basada en su biografía retrata su vida y la manera en la que llegó a ser poseedora de tal fortuna por sus propios medios.
Esta miniserie consta de 4 capítulos que nos van narrando su trayectoria como persona, mostrándonos la cruda realidad de las personas negras en los inicios del siglo XX y todos los obstáculos que tenían para subsistir debido a el gran racismo que predominaba en la época.

Sarah, is a poor woman who is dedicated to the laundry, a job that does not let her earn more than a dollar a day, because she leads a precarious life and full of mistreatment, her hair begins to fall out, immersed in her despair she is visited by Addie, a woman seller of hair care products, She helps her with her problem and with her cream manages to get Sarah's hair back, grateful for this, Sarah asks Addie to help her sell her products, an offer that Addie rejects, minimizing her for her physique and telling her that no one will ever buy anything from her because of the way she looks.
Sarah, es una mujer pobre que se dedica a la lavandería, trabajo que no le deja ganar más que un dólar al día, debido a que lleva una vida precaria y llena de maltratos empieza a caérsele el pelo, sumergida en su desesperación es visitada por Addie, una mujer vendedora de productos de cuidado capilar, esta la ayuda con su problema y con su crema logra que Sarah recupere su cabello, agradecida por esto, Sarah pide a Addie ayudarla a vender sus productos, oferta que Addie rechaza minimizándola por su físico y diciéndole que nadie jamás le compraran algo por como se ve.

Sarah, possessing a persistent spirit, decides to manufacture her own hair care products, after perfecting the formula of the product she manages to sell it independently, this turned out very well and she decides to move to Indianapolis with her family buying a house to have more space for the elaboration of her products, Everything goes smoothly until her daughter's husband spills a flammable component and Sarah's house catches fire along with many of her products, Addie who also moved to the city took advantage of this by taking Sarah's customers, she realizes her intentions and confronts her telling her that she will rebuild her business and will take the name of Madame C.J. Walker.
Sarah, poseedora de un espíritu persistente, decide fabricar sus propios productos de cuidado para el cabello, luego de perfeccionar la fórmula del producto consigue venderlo independientemente, esto le resulto muy bien y decide mudarse a Indianapolis junto con su familia comprando una casa para así tener más espacio para la elaboración de sus productos, todo va viento en popa hasta que por descuido del esposo de su hija, se derrama un componente inflamable y se incendia la casa de Sarah junto con muchos de sus productos, Addie que también se mudó a la ciudad tomó ventaja de esto haciéndose con los clientes de Sarah, esta se da cuenta de sus intenciones y la enfrenta diciéndole que reconstruirá su negocio y tomará el nombre de Madam C.J. Walker.

After much effort Madame C.J. raises money and pays a part for the purchase of a factory to expand her business, to secure it she asks for support from some investors, one of them tries to abuse her, after the search she does not succeed and seeks support from Booker T Washington, a leader of the black community with many presence in the U.S. government, after approaching him, Washington rejects and humiliates her with sexist pretexts to finally not give her his support.
Luego de mucho esfuerzo Madam C.J. reúne dinero y paga una parte para la compra de una fábrica para extender su negocio, para asegurar tenerla pide apoyo a unos inversionistas, uno de ellos intenta abusar de ella, luego de la búsqueda no lo logra y busca respaldo de Booker T Washington, un líder de la comunidad negra con muchos presencia en el gobierno estadounidense, luego de acercársele, Washington la rechaza y humilla con pretextos sexistas para al final no brindarle su apoyo.

After mortgaging her house and with the help of her trusted lawyer, she managed to establish her factory to triple the production of her products, there she taught black women about female independence to help them create their own businesses, with the help of her best 5 saleswomen she plans to open 5 branches to sell her product and expand.
Después de hipotecar su casa y con la ayuda de su abogado de confianza, logran establecer su fábrica para así triplicar la producción de sus productos, ahí enseñaba a mujeres negras sobre la independencia femenina para ayudarlas a crear sus propios negocios, con la ayuda de sus mejores 5 vendedoras planea abrir 5 sucursales para vender su producto y así expandirse.

Her daughter's husband infiltrates Addie's business by passing her information about Madame C.J.'s new expansion plans, Addie convinces Madam's employees to work with her, Madam's daughter tells her what happened and she angrily tells her daughter "Everyone wants a light-skinned girl with silky hair, we must make an effort, be smarter and get rich. From now on I will put my face on advertisements and packaging" something revolutionary for the time when only the stereotype of the hegemonic woman with European features was shown when selling a product.
El esposo de su hija se infiltra en el negocio de Addie pasándole información acerca de los nuevos planes de expansión de Madam C.J. , Addie convence a las empleadas de Madam para que trabajen junto a ella, la hija de Madam le cuenta lo sucedido y ella enfurecida le dice a su hija “Todos quieren una chica de piel clara con pelo sedoso, nosotras debemos esforzarnos, ser más listas y hacernos ricas. De ahora en adelante pondré mi cara en anuncios y envases” algo revolucionario para la época en la que solo se mostraba el estereotipo de mujer hegemónica con rasgos europeos al momento de vender un producto.

Two years pass since Sarah has her factory, in all this time she manages to build a beauty empire becoming a millionaire thanks to all the products she manufactured, rejecting important offers such as selling her product in big stores, this because many black women depended on the work of selling such products, besides she claimed that she got to where she was thanks to them.
Pasan dos años desde que Sarah tiene su fábrica, en todo este tiempo logra montar un imperio de belleza haciéndose millonaria gracias a todos los productos que fabricó, rechazando ofertas importantes como la de vender su producto en tiendas grandes, esto debido a que muchas mujeres negras dependían del trabajo de vender tales productos, además que afirmaba que llegó hasta donde estaba gracias a ellas.

Definitely YES, this story encourages you to persist, grow and prosper regardless of the obstacles that come your way, if we do a little retrospection we remember that Sarah Walker was a poor washerwoman daughter of slave parents, the dream she had was so unshakable that nothing stopped her, for her the situation with the black community in the country was not an obstacle and not to mention the rights of women at that time in which it was imposed that she had to stay at home. I think this series was able to portray very well in its short 4 chapters part of her trajectory, some of the things that were left out are very important details of her real life, such as her philanthropy in providing food to black communities, or her donations to anti-lynching foundations, Madam was quite present in the activism against white oppression.
Everything in her story is really inspiring, the way she supported women encouraging them to be independent and wanting to break the "perfect" woman scheme through her products is really admirable, her legacy makes you realize that the only thing you need to fulfill a dream is to want it, Madame C.J. Walker is an example of overcoming and strength.
Definitivamente SI, esta historia te alienta a persistir, crecer y prosperar sin importar los obstáculos que se te presenten, si hacemos una pequeña retrospección recordamos que Sarah Walker era una lavandera pobre hija de padres esclavos, el sueño que tenía era tan inquebrantable que nada la detuvo, para ella no fue obstáculo la situación con la comunidad negra en el país y ni hablar de los derechos de la mujer en esa época en la cual estaba impuesto que debía permanecer en casa. Considero que esta serie supo retratar muy bien en sus cortos 4 capítulos parte de su trayectoria, alguna de las cosas que quedaron por fuera son detalles muy importantes de su vida real, como su filantropía al provisionar alimentos a comunidades negras , o sus donaciones a fundaciones de anti linchamientos, Madam estaba bastante presente en el activismo en contra de la opresión de los blancos.
Todo en su historia es realmente inspirador, la forma en la que apoyó a mujeres alentándolas a ser independientes y el querer romper con el esquema de mujer “perfecta” a través de sus productos es realmente admirable, su legado te hace darte cuenta que lo único que necesitar para cumplir un sueño es desearlo, Madam C.J. Walker es un ejemplo de superación y fuerza.
