Groundhog Day is a movie in the 90s that had me today being so inquisitive as to what end it will come to. This is a typical ordinary start to a movie that if you just hold your horses a little while longer, it will all make sense and be worth the watch.
I love movies and everyone experiences movies in different ways. As for me, when a movie reads a deeper meaning than portrayed or teaches me something so valuable carrying me through the day in glee 'sigh of relief (Haaaa!)'. Then that movie was worth taking me off my normal routine or plans through the day.
I sat to have my breakfast and feed my eyes in the process, then, came across this movie. At the back of my mind, was so sure due to its old movie vibes shown through the colour quality and a boring start 'I won't be here for long'. Then discovered, I lied to myself.
It started with a young newscaster going on with his normal day with more or less no enthusiasm, less fun and a boring end. He woke up the next day and was surprised to see that the day was a repetition of the previous day, as he could say verbatim what was said on the radio station and peeking through the window, a replay of what happened the previous day.
A repetition of the same day over and over again, having the star actor Bill Murray throwing caution to the wind (like literally in the picture below), being reckless, committing crimes, living lavishly yet not finding satisfaction then losing interest in life.
Satisfaction finally came to be in the strangest of ways. When he started having an interest in the lives of others around him sides from himself and feeling satisfied through the satisfaction and pleasure felt by others. He became the best version of himself by learning different skills judiciously...
in the process, gaining the interest of his love (and boy did he try through every means possible - so many tricks off his sleeves).
Romance of course seals the deal 'smirks'. A lovely watch all in all with this key sentence
'if today were your last, what would you do?'
What I like about the movie is how it sums up the beauty of life in its entirety. Although not void of the fact that we would love to experience life with a trial and error outlook without its repercussions of course and start on a whole new slate of a better choice and finally maybe truly know where we are headed. If and only if right? Finding the purpose of our existence, which we can through omitting all negativity cus they do have repercussion. Through this movie, we get to see another's experience of the good, the great and the horrible. Maybe take caution + Learn a lesson or two to mirror in our lives.
Do mention below what interests you about the movie. Are these the type of movies that interests you?
The few pieces of music that played in the movie and stuck with me😍 are... "I got you, babe..", "You don't know me" and many more.
