Two days ago, I had the opportunity to appreciate this feature film, and the truth is that I loved it, I did not expect so much from this film, which actually had its premiere in 2019, but I had never seen it. It is a film, that in the mind of the directors Benny Safdie and his brother Joshua Saudíes, managed in my person to create feelings of stress, anguish and tension before the expectations of what could happen, at the pace of the trajectory of the film, which from beginning to end, maintains that chaotic rhythm, which leaves no rest between scenes, but makes the viewers keep abreast of what is happening.
Hace dos días, tuve la oportunidad de apreciar este largometraje, y la verdad que me encantó, no esperaba tanto de esta película, que en realidad tuvo su estreno en el 2019, pero nunca la había visto. Es una película, que a mente de los directores Benny Safdie y su hermano Joshua Saudíes, lograron en mi persona crear sentimientos de estrés, angustia y tensión ante las expectativas de lo que podía suceder, al paso de la trayectoria de la película, que de principio a fin, mantiene ese ritmo caótico, que no deja descanso entre escenas, sino que hace mantener a los espectadores al tanto de lo que vaya sucediendo.
On the other hand, the main role of Adam Sandler, making a simply wonderful interpretation, taking the seriousness of the circumstances of the character, but without leaving behind that characteristic quality of Sandler, with comedy roles, but that adapts more to a tragic comedy. Basically, Adam Sandler plays a Jewish jeweler addicted to sports betting, action which leads him to create a series of situations of great anguish, by the actions that leads the character to generate endless conflicts with other characters in the film. Although also, this character exemplifies his attention to his family, but as a negative point the disloyalty to his wife, and the manipulation of the character in question Howard Ratner, reaching a fatal and unexpected outcome.
Por otra parte, el papel principal de Adam Sandler, haciendo una interpretación simplemente maravillosa, tomando la seriedad de las circunstancias del personaje, pero sin dejar atrás esa cualidad característica de Sandler, con roles de comedia, pero que se adapta más a una comedia trágica. Básicamente Adam Sandler interpreta a un joyero judío adicto a las apuestas deportivas, acción la cual lo lleva a crear una serie de situaciones de mucha angustia, por las acciones que conlleva al personaje a generar un sin fin de conflictos con otros personajes de la obra cinematográfica. Aunque también, dicho personaje ejemplifica su atención por su familia, pero como punto negativo la deslealtad hacia su esposa, y la manipulación de parte del personaje en cuestión Howard Ratner, llegando a tener un desenlace fatal e inesperado.
Within the technical parameters of the film, I can consider that it maintains a perfect editing, with a splendid narrative development, as well as a well done job in photography, while the incidental music, is adequate in the rhythm, creating that atmosphere of much anguish and stress between scenes, characterized by being a sound, which to me sounds very 80's, a bit like those sounds of games of that era, although at certain times in the film, I found it very tiring to listen to that same sound, which echoed a lot in my head, but I can understand that it was the best way to give more rhythm to the plot of the film.
A plot, which can be considered within the category of a psychological thriller, encompassing crime, suspense and drama, the drama that the character lives constantly with the other characters in the story and his family, the crime would be circuntacias, leading to criminal actions and suspense, for all the uncertainty that is generated in the viewer, to know how the story is developing. Undoubtedly, it is a film that leaves you with a bitter taste, but that is what the director creates in the viewers the highest of expectations, to then fall into disappointment or taste for the final result.
Dentro de los parámetros técnicos de la película, puedo considerar que mantiene un montaje perfecto, con un desarrollo narrativo espléndido, así como un trabajo bien realizado en la fotografía, mientras que la música incidental, se adecua en el ritmo, creando esa atmósfera de mucho angustia y estrés entre las escenas, caracterizado por ser un sonido, que al mi parecer suena muy de los 80, un poco como esos sonidos de juegos de esa época, aunque en ciertos momentos en la película, me parecía muy cansado escuchar ese mismo sonido, que hacía mucho eco en mi cabeza, pero puedo entender que fue la mejor forma de darle más ritmo a la trama de la película.
Una trama, que se puede considerar dentro de la categoría de un thriller psicológico, englobando el crimen, suspenso y la drama, esa drama que vive el personaje constantemente con los demás personajes de la historia y su familia, el crimen por la sería de circuntacias, que conllevan a acciones delictivas y suspenso, por toda la incertidumbre que se genera en el espectador, por saber cómo se va desarrollando la historia. Sin duda, es una cinta que te deja con un trato amargo, pero es que en eso consiste, que el director crea en los espectadores la mayor de las expectativas, para luego caer en la decepción o degusto por el resultado final.
Which is reinforced by an open and less expected ending, where the main character despite having achieved his goal in the plot, but ends in a fatal ending, which I can say that I did not expect at any time, that beforehand I had thought another different ending, but this is what makes the film totally unpredictable, or at least from my point of view.
In the film, you can see a cameo, which makes a very important role in the work, and it is the former basketball player Kevin Gartnett, who from a point of view, is who makes the main axis, by which Sandler's character, is exploited by the interest of Garnett to an object appreciated within the film, and also because Garnett, would be who in a way would achieve that Howard Ratner, would win a bet he expected, as part of the solution to their problems.
La cual se refuerza, por un final abierto y menos esperado, donde el personaje principal a pesar haber logrado su objetivo en la trama, pero termina en un final fatal, que puedo decir que yo no lo esperaba en ningún momento, que de antemano había pensado otro final diferente, pero esto es lo que hace que la película sea totalmente impredecible, o por lo menos desde mi punto de vista.
En la película, se puede apreciar un cameo, que hace un papel muy importante en la obra, y se trata del ex basquetbolista Kevin Gartnett, quien desde un punto de vista, es quien hace el eje principal, por la cual el personaje de Sandler, se aprovecha por el interés de Garnett a un objeto apreciado dentro de la película, y porque también Garnett, sería quien de cierta forma lograría que Howard Ratner, ganaría una apuesta que esperaba, como parte de la solución de sus problemas.
Without further ado, I recommend this feature film as a cinematic gem, which is part of this new generation of directors, who are proposing a form and style of filmmaking, with much influence of those mythical directors who have had the great universe of cinema.
Sin más que decir, recomiendo este largometraje, como una joya cinematográfica, que forma parte de esta nueva generación de directores, que estan planteando una forma y estilo de hacer cine, con mucha influencia de esos directores míticos que ha tenido el grandioso universo del cine.
