Ten minutes into watching this latest Nollywood release on Netflix, I was so confused. I have never been as confused by a movie before as this. It was all over the place.
In the first part of the movie, Chief Daddy, I remember it was about a family patriarch dying and his death led to a commotion in the family. Everyone from his wife, many mistresses, siblings and children wanted a share of the inheritance. The sequel is no different.
The Plot
The struggle for the wealth of the late Chief Daddy continues in this second part but the story and entire movie is chaotic. Firstly, there are a lot of subplots that are too distracting from the main plot and quite unnecessary. The main plot itself didn't need to be dragged this much, I mean, they struggled for the wealth the whole of the first part so why was it still the main story in the sequel?
There were some loopholes in the story that just made no sense and had no links with the first part.
The Cast
There were too many celebs added to an already star-studded cast. Every scene had at least three renowned faces and I don't see the point of that. Having a very hefty cast with no solid story seemed like a total waste and doesn't make for a good movie. Some of the main characters like Ini Edo didn't even get as much as a word. Ordinarily, these are good actors but putting them all together in one space without room to express their roles was such a cringe sight.
Location
There was absolutely no reason to shoot in Dubai and London in addition to Nigeria. I guess it's a trend now to add scenes from another country but it doesn't add to the story or make it grander, they could have done without it. There wasn't a sequence with the switch between the countries either.
It was a very uncoordinated movie and the only thing coordinated was Falz's British accent. Yet another Nigerian movie with just pretty clothes and good cameras. It's meant to be a goofball, situational type of comedy, at least that's what I expect with so many faces on it. But it wasn't even funny. It is tagged as a romantic comedy though, it wasn't that either.
This gets a 1/5 rating from me. It's so unimpressive and it's a sequel that shouldn't have been.
