If there's one person that'd make you think Joe is not so bad afterall, it'd be Love Quinn.
Taking off from where we stopped in the last season, Joe is now a family man with his little boy Henry already here. Although Love's mum nicknames Henry 'Forty', which Joe totally hates and never fails to make a correction. At first Joe finds it really hard to connect with his son and it has him really frustrated.
Love on the other hand has a dilemma blending in with the rest of the community and starting her bakery business in a town where people barely eat sugar is taking a toll on her. Well, Love might be going through some form of post-partum depression but it doesn't stop her from making the show exciting with the first kill this season.
When she suspects Joe is having an affair with the next door neighbour, she corners her and kills her on impulse. That's the typical Love kill we've come to know and it makes her seem crazier than Joe. Joe helps her clean up, however, he finds her absolutely nuts which is very funny considering he's Joe.
Things get pretty interesting when Joe begins obsessing over his boss at the library he now works at. It's a known fact now that Joe is easy to fall in love with as the manipulative person that he is. His new love interest wastes no time in falling for him and expressing her feelings. This really sets the pace for Joe and now more than ever, he wants to run away from Love.
His plan to elope somehow keeps getting complicated. From dealing with Love and her impulsiveness to landing themselves in a swinger situation, it's all twists and turns for Joe this season.
My best bet was that either one of them was going to kill the other and I was right. Nice try from Love but a mastermind like Joe is definitely a better killer. In fact in this season, Joe got even better with his schemes. But I have to say, I'm impressed with Love's farm, at least she put some thought into that.
I still maintain that Joe is crazier than Love contrary to popular opinion. The fact that Love kills on impulse doesn't make her worse than Joe, the creepy stalker and manipulator who's nothing but delusional.
I really enjoyed this season and impressed with the delivery. It's hard to think of someone else playing Joe, Penn Badgley does it like it was made for him. Victoria Pedretti on the otherhand, I didn't really think she was perfect for the Love character at first. However, this season she kind of grew on me and I see why she's a good fit.
The suburbs setting this season definitely added some spice to the show. Murder cases are usually big in such places so having these murders blow up around town came with a lot of drama. Next season however, Joe begins life in a big city and surprisingly, it's Paris.
This show is so good and I'll recommend over and over to anyone who's never seen it. It's entertaining and totally worth your time. All three seasons are available on Netflix.
