Expecting father Alan is determined to find his biological family after his father-in-law taunts him for not having any. A quick check gives him the details of his mother and he begins his quest.
This leads him to finding his brother Russell, a bloated version of Alan himself who still lives with the mum. From snooping around in their mum's house, Alan finds out there are four more siblings asides Russell and that they're sextuplets.
He contacts the rest siblings who he meets in pretty weird circumstances. There's Dawn, the only female of the sextuplets who's in prison, a loud talker and a prettier version of Rasputia from Norbit.
Another sibling Alan meets is Baby Pete who looks like Alan facially but very skinny and is in a hospital bed in dire need of a new kidney. Somehow, Alan gets tricked in giving up one of his kidneys for his stranger of a brother.
This deceit coupled with Dawn running off with his car afterwards makes Alan regret the search for his siblings. Just as he is about quitting and going home, he and Russell gets kidnapped leading them to Jaspar, another sibling.
Meanwhile his obvious look-alike Ethan made his way into Alan's home playing husband to his pregnant wife and plans to steal from them as much as he can.
I'd rather not give further spoilers, not like this has been a lot though.
Chaotic Mess Gone Wrong
Marlon Wayans plays a total of seven characters in Sextuplets. He plays all of the sextuplets- the main character, Alan, Russell, Dawn, Baby Pete, Jasper, Ethan and their mum.
The idea of playing more than one crazy, over-the-top, chaotic character has always been a fun plot, Eddie Murphy does it so well and even Marlon Wayans himself does it pretty good. In this movie however, Marlon didn't show enough comedic individuality with each of the characters except with Dawn.
The others were more like extras in the whole plot and I would have preferred a bit more backstory and spotlight on them. Like earlier stated, the Dawn character looks a lot like Rasputia. I guess all funny men in a drag queen fat suit look the same way. Very stereotypical.
Russell and the mother also wear a fat suit and that's just about much effort put in the prosthetic department. The others are just Marlon with different wigs except for Baby Pete whose body looks like a bad edit job.
The Other Cast Members Were Fun
I didn't find the siblings as interesting as I expected but I did find some other characters interesting. Glynn Turman plays Alan's stern father-in-law who hates Alan and never ceases to make a point of it in every conversation.
Alan's boss played by Molly Shannon is sexually aggressive towards him and yes, that might be an overused plot but it was funny.
Then there's Doug, the white guy at work that wants to be Black so bad. He's played by Michael Ian Black. Oh, his real name is Black.
You can find Sextuplets here on Netflix if you still are interested in seeing it.
