Sooo I didn’t end up sleeping and binge watched Apex instead 😅
It starts with grief more than action.
Charlize Theron ❤️ really carries the (whole) film. Her character heads into the wilderness looking for peace and space to process loss, but instead ends up trapped in this deadly cat-and-mouse game with a serial killer.
What I liked most is that it is not just another survival thriller. It feels more personal. She is not written as someone waiting to be saved, she adapts, fights, and survives in a way that feels believable.
The forest setting adds so much tension too. It is beautiful, but also feels threatening the whole time. Like it’s going to open up and swallow them all up. Mesmerising!
Now… the killer was a little predictable from the first introduction and some parts felt familiar, like we have seen that type of villain before, but overall the slow-burn suspense worked really well.
It was less about the killer and more about watching someone broken remember they still want to live. Interesting character progression.
I’d give it a solid 8/10. Worth the watch if you like thrillers with tension over jump scares.
