You won't believe the movie I remembered, and I can't believe I haven't talked about it yet. Well, you see so many movies that it's hard to remember them all, but when I saw something about Tyra Banks, this story immediately came to mind. However, among the things she needs for this ritual is her mother's hair, but an accident occurs, and the hair of Eve, a doll (a parody of Barbie) from a very famous brand, is used instead. Personal opinion
I have a lot of affection for this film, because when you're a child, you often dream of your toys coming to life. Well, I don't know if I was the only one, but it's like the magic of being a child, if you know what I mean. As a child, I thought, "Oh yeah, a Barbie coming to life, so exciting!" But when you're older, you understand the underlying message of this film. It uses the magic and the pink color of the doll "Eve" to introduce a much heavier theme: childhood grief. Which, I feel, is quite a heavy subject; loss will always be a hard blow in anyone's life, especially for a child. Here's what I have to say: it hasn't been with a person, but with an animal, it's the same feeling. My nephew has been present for the loss of our three dogs. He wasn't as present for the other two because he was quite young, but he was there for the last one that passed away this year. And even though you want to tell him he won't be coming back, well, it's not easy at all. He thinks he's at the vet and that he'll return. Even if we tell him gently, I feel like he's blocked out or prefers not to realize he won't be with us, just like with the other two. It's incredible how a 5-year-old (almost 6) understands all of this so well. That's why this movie, in handling this kind of content, is incredible and emotionally impactful.
Now, the film does have its flaws, which I didn't perceive as such as a child. For example, the transition from "perfect doll" to "being with feelings" feels somewhat rushed, and the toy company's corporate subplot feels a bit disconnected from the film's emotional core, functioning more as a device to generate tension towards the end than as an organic development. In short, it doesn't have any relevant weight or significant contribution to the plot. Furthermore, some secondary characters, like Casey's father, lack real depth and serve more as background to allow the dynamic between Casey and Eve to shine.
And, in short, Tyra Banks and Lindsay Lohan's performances are excellent. Banks, by portraying "total naiveté" without becoming ridiculous, manages to capture the physical rigidity and exaggerated optimism of a toy that suddenly has to learn to be human. Meanwhile, Lindsay perfectly captures the contained pain of loss; incredible work by both, and the chemistry between them is genuinely evident.
Positive points…

-Fast pacing: Everything happens too quickly, and there are no smooth or fluid transitions.

Oh, by the way, I didn't know there was a Life Size 2; I only found out when I was looking for the trailer for this one. I don't think it was very well received, because I honestly didn't even know it existed. Should I give it a chance?

No se imaginan la película que recordé y que no puede creer que no haya hablado de la misma, bueno, es que uno ve tantas películas que es difícil rememorar todas, pero al ver una cuestión ahí de Tyra Banks, de una se me vino esta historia que, sin duda alguna, la encuentro hermosa y bastante emocional, así que, aquí les dejo de cual se trata y porque la recomendaría.

Estrenada para el año 2000, el director Mark Rosman nos trae una historia de comedia, contando con las participaciones estelares de Lindsay Lohan, David Collins, Tyra Banks y Jere Burns.
¿De qué va la trama?…
La historia sigue a la pequeña Casey, una niña que, además de atravesar el duelo de perder a su madre, su padre no esta muy presente en su vida, ya que debe trabajar; en fin, en un intento desesperado por revivir a su madre, roba un libro que encuentra en internet que, según, tiene un hechizado que es posible. No obstante, entre las cosas que necesitaba para dicho ritual, se encontraba el cabello de su madre, pero en medio de ello, ocurre un accidente, donde el cabello de Eve, una muñeca (una parodia de la muñeca Barbie), que pertenece a una marca muy famosa, perfecta y optimista, es la que forma parte de este ritual.
Al despertar, pues el ritual si funcionó, pero no de la manera que quería, sino que Eve cobra vida y no puede revertir el hechizo sino obtiene el volumen 2 de dicho libro. A partir de ese momento, la historia se centra en el choque cultural de esta muñeca, quien debe aprender a navegar el mundo real (desde la comida hasta las emociones humanas) mientras Casey intenta lidiar con la presencia de esta "muñeca viviente" que no era lo que ella buscaba ¿Eve decidirá volver ser una muñeca o se quedará como humana? ¿Casey logrará sanar sus heridas?
Opinión personal
A esta película le tengo mucho cariño, pues cuando uno es niña, muchas veces sueña con que sus juguetes cobren vida, bueno, no sé si era la única, pero es como la magia de ser niño, si me explico; aunque de niña pensaba o si, una barbie que cobra vida, muy emocionante y toda la cuestión, cuando estas más grande, entiendes el trasfondo que se maneja en este filme, utiliza la magia y el color rosa de la muñeca "Eve" para introducir un tema mucho más denso: el duelo infantil. Lo cual, siento yo, es un tema bastante denso, la perdida siempre será un golpe duro en la vida de todo ser, más para un niño. Aquí les cuento que, no ha sido con una persona, pero con un animal llega a ser el mismo sentimiento, resulta que mi sobrino ha estado presente en las perdidas de nuestros 3 perritos, a los otros dos, no tanto ya que estaba bastante pequeño, pero al ultimo que se nos fue este año si y, aunque uno quiera decirle que ya no volverá, hey, no es nada fácil, el piensa que está a que el doctor y que volverá, aunque le digamos suavemente, siento que esta bloqueado o quiere mejor no darse cuenta que no estará con nosotros, como con los otros 2 y resulta increíble como un niño de 5 años (casi 6) llega a comprender muy bien todo esto, por lo que, esta película al manejar este contenido, se me hace increíble y emocionalmente impactante.
Ahora bien, la película si tiene sus fallos, que de niña no lo sentía de ese modo, por ejemplo, la transición de "muñeca perfecta" a "ser con sentimientos" ocurre de forma algo acelerada, y la subtrama corporativa de la empresa de juguetes se siente un poco desconectada del núcleo emocional de la película, funcionando más como un recurso para generar tensión hacia el final que como un desarrollo orgánico, en pocas palabras, no tiene un peso relevante ni aporte significativo en la trama. Agregando que, algunos personajes secundarios, como el padre de Casey, carecen de una profundidad real y sirven más como decorado para que la dinámica entre Casey y Eve brille.
Y, en fin, las actuaciones de Tyra Banks y Lindsay Lohan son excelentes, una al interpretar la "ingenuidad total" sin caer en lo ridículo, logra capturar esa rigidez física y el optimismo exagerado de un juguete que, de repente, tiene que aprender a ser humano. Mientras que, en definitiva, Lindsay logra capturar ese dolor contenido muy bien de lo que significa la perdida; increíble trabajo el de ambas, aunado que se nota la química entre ambas de forma genuina.
Puntos positivos…
-Las interpretaciones de Lindsay y Tyra, me encanta como llega a pasar de lo cómico a lo genuinamente curioso por el mundo humano, es fascinante.
-El manejo del duelo infantil: A diferencia de muchas comedias familiares que evaden temas oscuros, esta película pone la tristeza de Casey en el centro. No es solo una niña queriendo magia; es una niña que extraña a su madre. Ese peso emocional le da una relevancia que trasciende lo superficial.
-La química de las protagonistas: Lindsay Lohan y Tyra Banks forman un dúo inesperado pero muy efectivo.
-Estética Y2K pura: Para los amantes de la moda y el diseño de los 2000, la película es una joya visual. El vestuario de Eve es una representación perfecta de las tendencias de la época: colores brillantes, texturas satinadas y accesorios exagerados.
Puntos negativos…
-Trama secundaria débil: La historia sobre la empresa de juguetes y los ejecutivos que intentan salvar la marca se siente muy acartonada.

Es una "película de confort" que logra su objetivo: entretener mientras deja un mensaje positivo sobre sanar heridas emocionales. Ah, por cierto, no sabia que habia un Life size 2, me vine a enterar al buscar el trailer de esta, creo que no fue muy bien recibida, porque la verdad ni sabia que existia, ¿le doy una oportunidad?
