Growing up, we had an unspoken Christmas movie tradition. We saw Home Alone almost every year. I don't know how it happened but it just did. I guess it always turned out to be the most interesting thing to watch on TV at the time so we'd just watch the different parts every year.
I currently can't remember a lot about the different movies but I do remember how funny it was. I always loved it.
Right now, there's no tradition with movies anymore. I tried watching some Christmas movies on Netflix but I didn't enjoy how cliche they were. So, I've been seeing the different Marvel series.
I recently completed Luke Cage and right now I'm seeing Marvel's The Defenders. I started Iron Fist but I didn't fancy how serious Danny Rand was. Luke Cage provided just the right amount of superhero badassery and humour.
Before Luke Cage, I completed Sex Education. All 3 seasons. I'm a sucker for the right amount of sex and nudity in a tv series. Sex Education was more than satisfactory.
Due to the fact that I'm not feeling very festive this year, thanks to my sickness and lack of interest in many things, The Defenders has been the best option to keep me occupied while I stay in bed and try to feel better.
A rundown on the series
So, The Defenders is a limited series on Netflix with only 8 episodes. It stars 4 superheroes from different parts of New York.
Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. These guys and ladies and more like second grade Marvel superheroes. I feel like they don't make the cut to be Avengers so they just gave them their own name so they don't feel useless.
They're not so bad though. I just feel like the science behind their powers wasn't properly thought through. But that's my personal opinion.
Basically, these heroes have to save New York City from the forces of The Hand, I think. The Hand is the main bad guy from Iron Fist.
I honestly don't understand why Iron Fist has to be like the leader of the group. A friend of mine and I are on different sides. I'm a Luke Cage lover and he's an Iron Fist fan. He thinks his guy's better and I think he's just a delusional fighter with a glowing fist that makes no sense.
Luke's pretty dumb too. But at least he's bulletproof. He's like the negro Superman. His only weakness is himself.
Oh well, I'll be seeing The Defenders until Christmas and then I'll probably have to find something else to watch.
What are you watching?
