Lately, I watched "Nosedive".
It's an episode of the Netflix series "Black Mirror".
This film shows us a life where all people smile, give their best to be friendly and are attentive to others 24/7 to receive stars. Five stars are the max you can have, and the more stars (points) the more benefits you receive in your life. Not only if it comes to friendships, invitations, and jobs but also if it comes to the discount on your rent and how or if you can travel or rent a car.
Imagine a life in a world where everyone holds his phone scans your face (facebook option) and checks your profile (Facebook, Twitter, etc), your life.
If you are a 3 star or lower you do not count to the society, you are an outcast. If one VIP (big star) gives you only one star (downvote) the rest of the sheep follow.
Within a minute you lose your reputation and it's hard to get back on your feet.
It all happens to Lacie.
She's " only" a 4.2 star and tries hard to be a 5. She works day and night to achieve that.
As an old school friend asks her to be the maid of honor she is sure this is the way to achieve her goal.
It all went wrong when her flight got canceled and she cannot get a chair for the next flight. Raising her voice is punished by security and other people. Before she knows she belongs to the lower stars, the people everyone looks down at.
Lacie is no longer invited to the wedding but goes anyway. Covered by mud she says what she intended and wanted to say and... ends up in prison. It's the place where she and another inmate can scold at each other without being punished or "downvoted".
Is there a life without stars, upvotes given by "important" people?
Yes, there is. Lacie and all the other low stars could start giving stars to each other. Stop voting for the rich and wealthy ones who don't give a damn about them. Of course, they give them 5 stars because they hope to receive 5 stars back but that doesn't happen. You do not give a loser 5 stars because it doesn't look good on you. What would your friends think, say? They might unfriend you, downvote you for your bad taste.
This film shows everything that will happen to you if you do not make it on social media if you do not live by the rules!
The only way to grow is to vote on those who invest in you, are willing to give you a star.
It doesn't matter if it's a small one since many small ones make five stars (a big vote/fish/whale) too.
If we keep voting on the members of our circle they grow, their vote increases and so will ours.
This is what CCC's Circle stands for. We vote on our members. This is also what the Creed means, we read, comment and upvote the members of our circle, encourage them and give a hand in the growing process.
If Lacie will do that she will have her 5 stars, can keep them, no matter who downvotes her. The only thing she needs is a circle she can count on.
By the way this is not what the low, no stars do. They are happy with their freedom of speech, to be who they really are and do no longer care about keeping up appearances.
