Down votes, auto votes, self votes and bid bots have been probably the most controversial features the apps built on this blockchain have. From all of these, I have only a couple of times used the downvote button, I never used the auto vote feature and it's probably more than a year since I upvoted any of my posts.
Regarding bid bots, I had a big disgrace towards them back in the days, but they're no longer an issue.
This post is about downvotes, the feature of Hive that is quite often abused and misused. Wars have been created based on misbehavior around this one. In some cases though these are a necessary evil. I have no doubt about that.
Some folks around here do seem to throw them left and right without any reason. For example, I have this post from yesterday that got two small downvotes. One from and the other from
, based on... I don't know what reason.
I have never interacted with any of them, but I remember was upvoting my content once in a while. I'm curious now, what triggered him and the other guy to downvote my post... It's not over curated, not spam, I have quoted sources, valid information...
It's on a topic that is highly discussed lately and definitely not plagiarism.
I've just had a look over the two accounts and it seems that "Jesus hasn't ever created any piece of content on Hive" and Mayor used to post in the past, through Leofinance interface, but he's on a pause since July, 2021. They both have a combined 1600 HP and that's irrelevant, but from what I noticed I am not the only one who "received their blessing".
Curious why they do that, though. I would also like to read your opinion on downvotes, how do you see them as a feature on Hive, how often do you downvote, what triggers you to do so and so on... Other than that, hope you have a magnificent Sunday, at least as sunny as it was in here and see you to the next post.
Thanks for attention,
Adrian
