, you might have heard Starkerz mention Slowjamastan, or should I say, The United Territories of the Sovereign Nation of The People's Republic of Slowjamastan, as it is known formally.
Slowjamastan is a sovereign, micronation located on a privately owned 11-acre plot of land in the California dessert in Imperial County.
Slowjamastan’s supreme leader Sultan I, declared independence on December 1st, 2021. The Sultan’s former occupation was a late-night slow jam DJ. and his former name was Randy Williams, also known as R-DUB.
Slowjamastan is a dictatorship most of the time, but is also an “ocasional democracy” holding voting ceremonies and referendums from time to time. As you can imagine, Slowjamastani laws are strict, making it illegal to wear Crocs, play mumble rap and eat string cheese incorrectly (by biting into the tube as opposed to tearing away the strings).
If you visit the Slowjamastan website, you will see that you can apply for Slowjamastani citizenship, a position in parliament or as an ambassador. You can also sponsor a brick to help build the nation and as a show of appreciation, you will get your name engraved in it.
The Sultan is currently hard at work creating diplomatic ties with other nations. During his recent travels, he’s already had his Slowjamastan passport stamped by 16 different countries, including the United States, South Africa, New Zealand, and Vanuatu.
He’s also been very clear that Slowjamastan meets all the criteria of a sovereign nation-state as defined by the 1933 Montevideo Convention, which is considered the most accurate definition of a country. The Montevideo Convention requires a country to have a permanent population, a defined territory, a government and the capacity to enter into diplomatic relations with other states, and according to the Sultan, all of these criteria have been met.
The ministry of tourism of Slowjamastan regularly makes cultural publications to attract tourism to the nation. for example this one from the National Culinary Institute of Slowjamastan in which the Sultan himself gives a step-by-step guide to one of the country’s most iconic dishes: the Sultan’s Glorious Guac.
The ministry of communications has also put out official communication on the acquisition of state vehicles, which include a Slowjamastani police cruiser, a border patrol vehicle and a firetruck
All of these vehicles were on display at the 17th anual Cesar Chavez Lowrider & Classic Car Show in neighboring Keene California, United States of America.
The Sultan has also made an appearance at Microcon 2023 in Ypres, Belgium:

Sure, they might not have been recognized as a sovereign nation by the United Nations (yet), but I personally think all of this is brilliant. For starters, it all seems super fun and creative. All the official government missions also create hype about Slowjamastan. As you can see, they’ve even been featured on The Kelly Clarkson show on NBC:
Could this be an opportunity to reach out in an attempt to make $HIVE the oficial legal tender of Slowjamastan?
Can Hive come up with a similar idea to promote our network state?
I truly believe so.
This is the type of stuff that has the potential to go viral and really put the HIVE ecosystem on the map. We already have the technology to build amazing things on this blockchain, all we need is some more eyes.
I know is working hard to onboard 10,000 new users to HIVE, he's even made a DHF proposal which you can read about here:
@leofinance/proposal-to-grow-the-hive-ecosystem-with-the-everything-app-and-oneclick-onboarding
and put his own money and name on the line.
Why don't we all pitch in with something as fun and creative as The People's Republic of Slowjamastan?
