I got into Splinterlands 2 days ago and I was trying to buy some packs today, but it looks like they are all sold out. I realized that the only way possible to get some was through the third party market system.
But looking at the prices there, it was insanely expensive, the lowest pack I saw being over $30, and some having prices way higher than that. I feel like thats probably something bad for the game. If new people can't come in and enter at a lowish price, you can't really get a ton of new people in. I looked at the option of buying cards from the market, but even that was expensive, with the lowest cards starting at around 30 cents. I was quite surprised by that and thought that there would be some cards in the few cent range that I could buy while trying out the game.
I don't want to dump a lot of money just to try out a game, but right now it's not being easy. I understand that its very popular and that's probably a reason as to why the prices are higher, but I hope that the developers come up with a way to buy packs again at a lower rate(by releasing new ones probably).
The game isn't the most fun, and seems very repetitive BUT is a bit different from a lot of games I've played. While you'd normally be doing the deck building part of the game just a few times in most games, this game is just solely deck building, a new game mode would be cool as well. I was thinking it would be similar to Hearthstone but it wasn't.
I do think it still has a future though. Lands are something thats coming out and even though I don't know much about it, they seem to be taking advantage of the hype around NFTs that going on right now, and the price definitely reflects that.
