Lease is a process of giving and taking Hive Power under a special agreement and for a specific period of time. Taking or giving a lease is a very simple step which is possible only through #Hive-Engine. Before this HP lease was taken or given on dlease.io but now due to some reasons it has been discontinued and now this system continues on #Hive-Engine. There are many purposes for taking a lease. Mostly those people request it who want to curate new users or quality content or who want to increase their influence in the ecosystem. Any Benefit For Lease Takers or Givers?
Is there any benefit for people who take or give lease? As far as my experience is and as much lease as I have taken till now. I feel that the person who takes HP lease does not get any financial benefit but it is useful for account growth. How???
When you request a lease you keep the APR between 7.5% to 9%. When your lease gets filled then after doing curation, in the end you get the same APR that you requested. For example if you paid 300 swap.hive while taking the lease then after 10 weeks you will get back the same 300 swap.hive. Here there is no profit and no loss.
In another situation if you do not select good content during curation and you get a downvote then in the end you may have a loss. For example if you curate a content that is already blacklisted or under downvotes then your upvote will be wasted which will affect your APR in the end. In this way loss is possible. The Result here is either equality or loss is possible ( profit is not).
Profit only in the case if your request is filled at the lowest APR (like 4-5% APR)
But the one who gives the lease is surely profitable. For example if I requested at 7.5% APR then the one who gives me the lease will earn 7.5% profit. So for the lease giver it is profit in every case. No loss for him, they can also cancel the lease anytime they want and get back their hive power in his wallet.
If we look from the account growth point of view then it is profit only. If you have high HP lease and you curate content then your followers will start increasing. Hive users are thirsty for upvotes when they see someone is giving good upvotes they will follow you back and start upvoting your content. They show interest in your contents, they stay engage with you, write comments on your contents and more respect will be yours.
How the account growth increases? followers increase, engagement increases, you get more upvotes, your reputation increases, People will start liking you, they support your contents or projects you bring forward. All these are the advantages of lease. This is the profit area that makes users request lease. But one thing must be kept in mind that after taking a lease, use upvotes correctly and understand the rules otherwise your account can be blacklisted.
Before taking HP lease some things must be understood. like using that leased HP properly. After taking lease.. Doing self-voting, vote-circling, promoting wrong content, supporting accounts that are against Hive ecosystem, misusing downvotes, all this is not allowed. If you do not take care your account will be blacklisted.

The Step By Step Process Of Taking Lease
Now I explain the very easy method of taking HP lease. Recently I requested a 21K HP lease. I thought to explain practically with screenshots. Firstly you must have enough liquid Hive so you can make a lease request.
Login to #Hive-Engine, click on Deposit, swap.hive will be deposited to Hive-Engine wallet. This process takes only a few seconds.
Then at the top right corner you will see the Lease option. Clicking it will take you to the next interface.
There you will see many lease requests from different users with different APRs. It depends on the user at which APR they want to take the lease. The higher the APR you request the faster someone will give you the lease. But be careful to request an APR that will not give you loss in the end.
Next process is “Request a Lease”. Click on it and fill all fields properly.
Your account name (or someone else if you want to lease to them)
HP amount you want (I wrote 21,000 HP)
Number of weeks (I selected 10 weeks)
How much Hive per week you want to pay
Confirm the APR
Click Pay. Confirm transaction from #HiveKeychain. After this check your name in the request list. In a few days or even a few hours if APR offered is good, you will get the lease. This is the easy method to get HP lease and I hope you liked my post and found it helpful.
