Tether published its Q1 2026 attestation report on May 1, 2026, prepared by BDO, a top-five global independent accounting firm. Despite what Tether described as “highly volatile global market conditions,” the report confirms a net profit of $1.04 billion for the quarter, driving the company’s total excess reserve buffer to an all-time high of $8.23 billion. — Cryptotimes report
Not Revenue
Every time Tether income reports flood the ecosystem, it always feels unreal, but this is a company that's securing billions every quarter irrespective of the market conditions.
One thing some people might miss is that these figures are purely profits, not revenue, but actual profits after all costs of running their business has been excluded.
This makes Tether one of the most profitable companies in the world, some time last year it was widely reported as in fact, the most profitable judging mostly by net profit per staff.
Evidence of a hungry market
Global markets are hungry for access. Tether's USDT stablecoin gives people across the globe access to the United States monetary system.
Despite being a shitty system, in itself, it is still the best option out there today, hence why it's treasuries are considered the safest investment assets and yield source.
Comically enough, this is where Tether puts the capital it secures to issue dollar-pegged tokens on-chain.
What I expect
I believe Tether will continue recording billions in net profit as there isn't much of any signal to real competition when it comes to its dominating role in stablecoins payments or transactions across several blockchains.
It is currently somewhat of a stability source for multiple markets and ecosystems, and real stable finance solution for many people across the globe.
Many people today rely on Tether's USDT to store value as their native countries suffer inflation and some hyper-inflation.
Provided this market remains and no real competitor manages to attract said market, Tether will grow to be one of an even more profitable and powerful company in the world.
