I'm sure this has been happening already but I just wanted to leave a note for myself that it is a good year for investing in the Pharmaceutical industries. Even in the last one year, this industry saw a great bloom. There were also many new companies who started their Pharma business.
Though in some places Pharma did not bloom well, mostly it was looking good in my places. The main contributor to this sudden pump is the COVID situation. Even though many people are suffering due to COVID, if there is one industry enjoying nice returns, then it is definitely Pharmaceutical.
Costly medications
At one point during the peak covid time here, we had to spend double and triple for some of the medications. When my father was admitted to the hospital, I was asked to purchase a life-saving injection called Tozilizumab. The hospital couldn't manage to purchase this medicine from any of their contacts. I had to try from some of my sources and finally bought it from Appolo Pharmacy.
To my surprise, the injection cost was 40,000 Rs per shot. The doctor asked me to purchase two shots. I spent 80,000 Rs which is a little over 1000 $. I did not have any bad opinion on this Pharma industry by then but later when I came to know that in government hospitals the price of the same injection is only 7,500 Rs that is when the true color of this corporate world was revealed.
The funny thing about this injection is that after my father was given this, the Indian Medical Council declared that this is not helping COVID patients in anyways. The people who sold this medicine told me that as it is a life-saving medicine, the supply was very less. I was wondering that it should have been the other way round right. If it is a life-saving medicine, then it should be available cheap and abundant right?
Pharma stocks will bloom in the coming months
Forgetting all those ugly politics and businesses there, if we look at the opportunity, I think in the coming months, the Pharmaceutical industries will see good growth in terms of profit. So the stakeholders would get a decent revenue in the coming months. That is one good reason to purchase some trustable stocks and stay with them for a considerable amount of time.
COVID vaccination has started in India and so far it has also been successful. But the general public has not started getting their shots yet. It is expected that in another 3 or 4 months the general public would start getting shots and I guess that is when a price would be fixed and this would be available for purchase. There might be a heavy demand and competition to pump the price to a greater extent.
I already heard that there are some under the table dealings happening where some of these vaccinations are being sold to Rich politicians at a great price. So the business has already started and if you are fond of observing the market, then Pharma stocks can be kept on the Radar.
