Well, I Made Some Purchases ..
And by the title and the cover photo, you probably made a pretty quick and accurate guess as to what that may be. I took some of the proceeds from selling other items (See past posts), and bought a few coins I had my eye on. I purchased a few lots and am excited to go through them and share them all with my fellow stackers.
I Sold Several Items .. For various sums of money. I sold lighters, bottles, toys, tops, fishing lures, and the list goes on and on. I banked the dough in anticipation of purchasing some fractional silver coins. I set my eyes on mostly .800 and .900 silver coins.
Austrian Silver Schillings ..
These are what I found myself drawn to lately. I like their heavy feel, smooth flat edges, unique designs, and especially the obverse with all those cool shields.
1964 Austria 50 Schilling Commemorative Issue Coin ..
This coin is an uncalculating schilling made of .900 Silver. It was made in honor of the 1964 Winter Olympic Games held in Innsbruck. I think, besides the obverse with all it's shields, what drew me to this particular coin, was the neat design with a ski jumper. He/she seems to be flying through the sky like a bird in flight. I love the sleek skier design, the Alps in the background and the Olympic rings lingering above.
Check out the obverse of this coin... I like that the shields only go 3/4 the way around.
Stamped into the edge .. Are the words "FUENFZIG SCHILLING", translated to be 50 Shillings. A very chunky style font that is visually appeal, in my opinion.
Molly Gives Her Stamp of Approval ..
Well, an edited version of Miss Molly that is. I tried stepping out of my comfort zone and removing the background (the best I could) to help her to be a part of the excitement. She didn't mind so much, this time, being next to the coins. hehehe. Wow, so much easier than scaring the poor girl.
Here Is Some Additional Coin Info ..
Thanks to Numista.com. They are awesome for find a few detials on the coins you have. and
were nice enough to point this site out to me. Thanks!!!
Miss Molly ..
Now, as for Molly.. We went away a few weekends ago, up to the Lancaster area of Pennsylvania. Molly, as always, came along with us for the trip to see her cousins. She travels well. We make it very comfortable for her to travel. Let me see if I can find a photo of the pups traveling in the car...
My cousin hosted a barbecue .. Where other family came to gather and celebrate for the afternoon. It was nice to have so many together and the weather was AWESOME! Molly loved it too. She was less freaked out than I thought she was going to be. She found several comfortable spots to chill ..
Under the table with a bunch of smelly feet..
Where she eventually fell asleep and was NOT accidentally kicked .. Not once!
We laid down a small blanket for her to curl up on.. She enjoyed that spot for a good while. OBVIOUSLY because it was next to daddy and mommy. Or maybe it appealed because we were also eating. I may have 'Sucker' stamped on my forhead!
Yup. I'm eating and I'm a sucker.. Molly got a tasty handout right after this photo was taken. Smoked pork!
She eventually found a spot in the shade.. of the porch. The grass is nice and cool and incredibly soft over there. I wish our grass at home was as nice as this, but it's not. That's fine because keeping grass this nice is a LOT of work. I am sure my cousin would back me up on this. Nice grass cus! (smile smile)
Why not by the fence too? .. Molly found the shade after she followed us around to the driveway side of the house. That blacktop driveway can really absorb a lot of heat and Molly doesn't like all that heat on her tender paws. Sooooo... she found the cool spot. Again the grass!
Just look at her enjoying herself :-)
That's About It For This Post ..
We covered silver coins and Molly.
Maybe I am biased, but I think Molly is again the show stopper. Far more pretty and valuable to me than any coin.
As always, I hope you enjoyed the rambling.
“I have no riches but my thoughts,
Yet these are wealth enough for me;
My thoughts of you are golden coins
Stamped in the mint of memory;
And I must spend them all in song,
For thoughts, as well as gold, must be
Left on the hither side of death
To gain their immortality.”

About Me ~ The Artist
My art work incorporates a wide variety of subject matter, including landscape, seascape, cityscape, and still life images. My works are the product of a continuing process of exploration through which I seek to portray personal and visionary interpretations of my surroundings. My paintings are impressions of places and events from everyday life, an interpretation of my imagination, and personal responses to what I see and feel on a daily basis. More recently I have invested generous amounts of time into my landscape painting. I am surrounded by natural and man made beauty, which inherently presents itself in the tri-state area, and almost demands that I paint it.
Not everything is art. Art is not everything, but it comes close. Art is everywhere and all the time. Art makes you experience the beauty of the world, the people in it, and the places we call home. Art itself is so influential that it can tell stories, show feelings, and express passion or fury. Art exists in addition to language; expression of sensations and thoughts, revealing a way of thinking too subtle and delicate for words.
For me art requires love, honesty and perseverance. In return, it reveals some personal, non-analyzable, and creative untamed passion. For the public, art with its magnificent beauty, improves mood and health and builds better human beings and communities. It engages the intellect, softens the heart, strengthens the soul and frees the spirit.
