It's 2026 and after being for 9 years in the crypto space a paradox is trying me more than ever as my patience is running on fumes. Thing is that I’ve noticed that a lot of people surrounding me and including myself at times, that want to be rich but don’t want to live the life that traditional work often demands. Long hours, fixed schedules and slow financial progress sometimes feel like a trap rather than a path to freedom. I’ve worked hard before, put in real effort and still felt like I was standing still financially. This experience and with the time passing by, forces be to an uncomfortable question: if hard work alone doesn’t get me wealth, then what does? This brought me a lack of motivation that kept me away from the crypto space and being involved actively in it, including the Hive blockchain and beyond.
The path
Being at crossroads, there is an alternative path that starts to look more attractive. The idea of earning money without tying every dollar to time spent is powerful. The answer looks simple: work smarter, not longer. Making use of automation, better timing when acting and leveraging experience instead of brute effort could come in handy. In theory, that sounds like freedom. In practice, it’s far more complicated. But what I am taking from this is and really have an idea in my head is that whatever we want to develop, it should have a greater degree of automation in order to earn more time on my hands.
Doing still means work
But what I might not like to admit even if I realize it, is that this path also require work, but just a different kind. It’s not clocking in or answering to a boss, but it can mean staring at screens for few hours, learning constantly and making decisions that carry real gain. The work doesn’t disappear, but it changes its shape. But if it is executed with automation in mind, after it goes live it might bring us passive benefits than requiring us to be always present. And such mechanism will ensure steady earnings, even when there is a bear market.
Investment and success
Now, if we want to develop a crypto project or earn by trading, there’s also a harsh reality that success in these spaces is rare. Most people lose money before they ever make any. Many quit after realizing how hard it really is as it happened to be while abandoning ideas or started projects. Skill matters, mindset matters and time matters. Without these, the outcome is usually frustration or loss. The idea that anyone can jump in and quickly become wealthy is mostly a myth.
Another hard truth is that having little starting capital makes everything harder. Even good decisions don’t move the needle much if there isn’t enough money behind them. That leads some people to take bigger risks than they should, chasing fast results instead of sustainable progress. But in the same time, making just few cents a day simply is not motivating. Sometimes we need to take the risk and simply think bigger if we can afford it.
I’ve also learned that wanting financial freedom doesn’t mean wanting to do nothing. It means wanting to self manage time, energy and choices. For some people, not having to work in the traditional sense already feels like being rich, even if the numbers aren’t impressive. That feeling of autonomy is often the real goal, not luxury.
In the end, there’s no escape from effort. There’s only the choice of where to place it. Some paths are slower but steadier. Others are faster but far more dangerous. The mistake is believing there’s a way to get everything without paying a price. In the end wealth always asks for something in return. But now more than ever we have the tools that AI offer and that could get us faster to the end goal. For sure not all ideas will generate wealth, but we will be able to faster go through the engineering process and see if that is a winner.
I have written this article after some time while I got energized by a new idea that is taking shape in my head and I am taking technical steps to see it to fruition. I now feel that I can allocate enough time for this to see an MVP or even final product without a very long period of implementation. This is how 2026 starts for me and hopefully I can see at least this idea to fruition.
