Splinterlands was down for about a day, and it came at a very frustrating time of the season. It was a frustrating 24 hours for Splinterlands lovers as servers were down and it was impossible to move up the ranks before the end of the season.
Lucky for me, I was already at my peak level, so what I missed most was the earnings from ranked battles. However, for others who were probably hoping to make an end-of-season push, it would have been very frustrating.
For what it's worth, it wasn't so bad. In fact, What we know for sure is that the upgrade we'll be getting is going to lead to a much-improved gaming experience.
Why it's not so bad
Since the gains from Splinterlands hit the roof, there have been a lot of newbies and the return of some major players back to the system. This made moving up the ranks a tad bit more challenging.
However, on the plus side of disabled ranked battles is that it provides an avenue for the players to check out the other cool things that Hive has to offer.
I bet many players that got into Hive simply because of the game would have checked out the various communities and used many of the social features on the platform.
Why this sucks
The last couple of hours to the end of the season are usually the toughest for Splinterlands payers.
These last hours are spent hustling the few points to move up the ranks and maybe kick some ass until you get to the next league before the season ends and draws you back 3 leagues to start all over.
Missing out
As a constant player of Splinterlands, I have to admit that being away from the game for a long period has caused me a pretty penny.
Asides from the goodies missed from not being able to complete daily quests, there's the loss accrued from rentals and regular play.
Well, the server came back up at about 50 minutes to the end of the Season.
What Happened?
Splinterlands has been undergoing a number of updates for a while. The cause of this downtime was due to some migration of data with Amazon, the server provider for Splinterlands
For more information, you can visit the discord channel and check the "tech support" channel. As of right now, everything has been sorted out, and ranked battles are working.
Thanks to the upgrades, the pairing time for ranked battles has been dramatically cut down. Also, the growing interest has probably reduced the number of bots participating in the game but I have no data to prove this.
Splinterlands has been undergoing a migration of data on the network to the Amazon Host Provider. Now that ranked battles have commenced, it's safe to say that the migration process has been completed. Now we just play, enjoy the rewards, and see what's new.
