Polygon Moves More Towards Web 3.0
One of the things I said about these layer two tokens or Ethereum competitors all last year is they would quickly need to start building their own assets that grow and have demand instead of relying solely on faster transactions and lower fees. There are plenty of blockchains that already offer this but they lack the sites and applications to use them.
This is why I'm liking the looks of Polygon as of late and the movements they are taking. It seems like Polygon will be Ethereums main layer 2 token for fast transactions and lower fees but it is also shaping up to be a force in the web 3.0 space.
Polygon recently announced it is joining forces with AlchemyPlatform and web3 community to launch what they call a web3university. It's to help devs and provide resources for creating smart contracts, NFTs and DeFi projects.
You can check out the site here > https://www.web3.university/
It seems lately that people are in the mode of taking cheap shots at web3.0, NFTs and Ethereum as influencers who are very uneducated on the matter and manipulate markets for their own profits are shaping things. I believe this is only going to last so long and just like the crypto community took on bad actors and bad government's trying to restrict and ban they are going to start taking down so called influencers that start spreading pure crap and digs just to try and hit some headlines. This in part comes from Elon Musk which I believe will start seeing less and less influence as people start be become more educated on the matters. My hopes are though that Elon and many of these other influences start really using their influence for good instead of trying to squeeze more money out of people which has been a constant recurring trend as of late.
Do you think Web3.0 is here? Or do we have a long way to go?
Personally I feel we have a long way to go. While there are some decent attempts at making web3.0 sites they either lack one or two of the other critical elements that make it a success.
The things any application or website needs for success are
- Solid dev teams (which many of these platforms do have)
- A quality and easy to use UI for everyday users that means onboarding and doing actions on the blockchain
- A marketing team to push the product and get it in front of people including building hype
