Smoke or Signal?
There are reports by the Financial Times suggesting that Iran may require ships to pay in crypto for passage through the Strait of Hormuz. I came across a post about this on X earlier today. Polymarket talks about $1 per barrel oil.
What really caught my attention, though, is the mention of crypto payments. I asked Grok AI whether Bitcoin is actually being used, but it seems the payments are more likely requested in stablecoins or possibly Chinese yuan. To be honest, it’s hard to verify what’s really happening in the Strait of Hormuz right now but where there’s smoke, there may be something going on.
Regardless, the broader point stands: payments in cryptocurrencies whether stablecoins or BTC are becoming more common, and that’s the real story here in my view.
What do you thing, guys?
