Starbucks vs McDonald’s
After several years being second place, Burger Giant McDonalds regained its spot as the worlds most valuable fast food chain. Since 2016 Starbucks was in the lead and had won the „trophy“ from McD.
And there is reasons why investors prefer MCD over SBUX. While Starbucks is struggling with slowing demand in China but also in the US since several years now, McDonald’s was able to perform better in this challenging environment. Despite several tailwinds like the E. Coli issue in the states last year or less customers, they were able to react and bring back the momentum. Starbucks had quite some CEO changes in the recent years to find an answer to the ongoing difficulties while McDonald’s is managed since 2019 by a stable Management Team. The share prices reflects all that, MCD is up +200% over the past decade while SBUX only did +50%.
