It's been a heck of a week in the world of finance. I'm still trying to wrap my head around all of the stuff that is going on and get back into the groove of things after taking our first camping trip of the summer.
Summer is definitely here and things are heating up! At least in terms of crypto. If you follow , you probably notice that other things like the price of Silver have gone down a bit. I can attest to that fact. I notice the other day that my stock in Fortuna Silver Mines took a bit of a nosedive this week.
I saw some really great posts in the Silver and Gold Stacking community. If you haven't checked it out, you totally should. Those Buffalo Rounds really caught my eye. Sadly, I don't think I can hit the AMPEX minimum for free shipping. It could be a good time to get an early jump on my Christmas shopping though!
It is time again for another Finance Friday/Friday Finance. This is a series I started where I talk about random bits of financial stuff that I have seen, gathered, or experienced during the week. I hope as a reader you find it informational, entertaining, or both. I also hope it can generate some good discussion and edify the Leo community.
Speaking of Shopping!
I'm including this post in the regular #marketfriday initiative started by . Each Friday members of Hive share some great markets or stores they have visited or have locally. If you follow my blog, you know I traveled to Harrison, MI this past weekend and I visited my fair share of small town businesses.
The first was this combination gift shop, coffee shop, bakery. They have all kinds of crafted goods and nick knacks here. I've gotta be honest though, the main reason I showed up was for the cupcakes. I have a co-worker who lives in Harrison and she was adamant that I needed to stop at the cupcake store while I was there.
You actually have to be looking pretty closely when you drive by or you might miss it. The sign on the outside isn't very descriptive, and there is just so much going on in this one building that it is quite confusing.
If you happen to find it though, it is totally worth it!
I snagged these four cupcakes and I have to say they were quite delicious. From the top left going clockwise they are peanut butter, nutty bar, raspberry lemon, and cookies and cream. If I had to pick one that was my favorite, it would have to be the peanut butter one.
Our friend got cupcakes as well as a scone and she said the scone was the second best scone she has ever had in her life. That's a big deal to me, because while I always find scones amazing looking, they often fall short and end up being dry to me.
She said that wasn't the case with this one.
It's pretty common for several things to be jammed into a small space in small towns like this. For example, if you head a short walk down the road from the cupcake/coffee/souvenir/flower shop, there is a block that contains a mulch business, a BBQ joint, and a produce market. It's also where we purchased our campfire wood for the weekend.
Crazy right?
You better believe I also made a stop at the BBQ place! The food was amazing for a really decent price. If you go with the daily special, you can get pulled pork, three ribs, smoked sausage, and 1/4 of a chicken plus two sides for under $21.
I went with the four rib special with two sides for $14 and then I added a smokes sausage on the side.
It was fantastic. Later at the produce shop I had our friends pick me up a chocolate malt because they sell hand dipped ice cream there too!
Finally, should you need some time away from the campground, a trip to the Putt Putt/Arcade/Go Kart track is always in order. The children of our friends who we camp with spent a good deal of time at this place.
All of these businesses are really indicative of the type of things you would see in a vacation destination town like this. They all fit the Market Friday theme really well.
Back to Finance
I'm a bit sad to say that my power up next month for HPUD is probably going to be less than usual. Less than I was hoping as well. I have a good reason though. I got sidetracked into the next big thing that and
are launching called
.
Both these guys have a good track record of starting projects here on Hive and I like the idea of getting in on something at the ground level. I've been pumping a good deal of liquid Hive into the purchase of DBOND tokens. The first sale window is going to be ending soon, so if you want to get your hands on some, you should check out the blog to find out how.
Eventually, you will be able to get them on the secondary Hive Engine market, but no one likes being late to the party.
I'm still skeptical on this whole Bitcoin ETF thing. We have seen businesses present ETF's to the SEC before only to be shut down hard and fast. I'm hoping that isn't the case here. I just can't bring myself to hold out hope.
If they do approve it, we could see a huge influx of institutional money like we did at the beginning of the last bull run.
Time will tell...
