A choppy week made for a good opportunity to scale into a few gold and silver miners and to add back some uranium.
Portfolio News
In a week where S&P 500 rose 0.5% and Europe dropped 2.3%, my pension portfolio dropped 2% - WOW - clearly too much commodity stuff and thankfully not enough Europe.
Big movers of the week were Solis Minerals (SLM.AX) (151.6%), F4 Uranium Corp (FFU.V) (57.1%), Cobalt Blue Holdings (COB.AX) (50.6%), Neo Energy Metals (NEO.L) (32.1%), Curaleaf Holdings (CURA.TO) (20.9%), Patterson-UTI Energy (PTEN) (20.3%), Pantera Minerals (PFE.AX) (16.7%), Baker Hughes Company (BKR) (15.3%), Blue Star Helium (BNL.AX) (14.3%), Atha Energy Corp (SASK.V) (12.6%), AuKing Mining (AKN.AX) (12.5%), ChargePoint Holdings (CHPT) (10.8%), American Uranium (AMU.AX) (10.6%), Lodestar Minerals (LSR.AX) (10%)
One of those low weeks with only 14 stocks in the big movers list. The big themes do have showings - from the top - alternate energy materials (3 stocks), uranium (4 stocks), marijuana (1 stock), oil services (2 stocks), gold mining (1 stock), rare earths (1 stock)
News driven at the top of the list - Solis Minerals (SLM.AX) acquires a district scale exploration package from a subsidiary of Rio Tinto (RIO) within the Araçuaí–Salinas Lithium Valley, a globally significant hard-rock lithium belt. No news on the other to movers.
US markets bounced around with the on-off ceasefire story. Earnings season started - that always helps markets focus on data and not feelings. The result - a divergent week end with the records for tech stocks and the Dow down.
Crypto Builds
Bitcoin price pushed higher all week finishing the week 5.8% higher than the open with a trough to peak range of 7%.
Ethereum price pushed sideways all week finishing the week 0.7% higher than the open with a trough to peak range of 6.9% - making another week with a tighter range than Bitcoin
Enjin (ENJBTC) continues the wild moves with a pop of 57% - that was however not enough to make a higher high.
Nuclear Energy Holdings
A few pull back additions and a 3.4% drop in valuations.
Mix of holdings sees a few changes - small decrease in share of portfolios to 27.1% despite the additions. Oklo Inc (OKLO) and Sprott Junior Uranium Miners ETF (URNJ) swap places in slots 5 and 6. Atomic Eagle Limited (AEU.AX) jumps two paces into slot 8. Silex Systems Limited (SLX.AX) and Ur-Energy Inc. (URG) swap places in slots 9 and 10
A few small changes in holdings by stage with the largest move a 1 point drop in the share of Producers.
Alternate Energy Holdings
No changes in holdings but a 4% increase in valuations - better than the market did.
Invesco Solar ETF (TAN) and Largo Inc (LGO) swap places in slots 3 and 4. Frontier Nuclear and Minerals (FNUC) comes into the Top 10 in slot 9 after completing the merger - plan is for the company to split out their lithium and uranium interests and to become a uranium and enrichment play. Pilbara Gold Limited (PGL.AX) - the old Kairos Minerals (KAI.AX) moves down a place into slot 10. Dropping out the top 10 is Vulcan Energy Resources (VUL.AX). Share of portfolios goes up 0.3 points to 5.5%.
Precious Metals Holdings
A few additions mostly in silver but a 4.9% drop in valuations - hedge value not quite working in a down week
Mix of holdings sees a few changes. Pan American Silver Corp. (PAAS) moves into Top 10 on the additions there into slot 6. Dropping out of the top 10 is VanEck Gold Miners ETF (GDX). Share of portfolios goes up a tad to 10.3%
Bought
Been watching a few more investor videos - focus in on gold and silver - Rick Rule, Don Durrett (a bit of a gold bug), Kai Hoffman, Michael Oliver amongst them. A few threads becoming clearer - free cash flow power of high gold and silver prices, changes in LNG markets as a result of damage in Middle East and disrupted supply, potential for a helium shortage, role of US in natural gas supply. Had me deploying some cash raised in the last options expiry
NeXGold Mining Corp (NEXG.V): Gold Mining. Opened a new holding in pension portfolio. The company's flagship asset is the 100%-owned Goliath Gold Complex, an advanced stage high-grade gold deposit near Dryden, Ontario, which includes the Goliath, Goldlund, and Miller projects
Equinox Gold Corp (EQX): Gold Mining. Scaling in in pension portfolio. Wrote covered call for 2.2% premium with 18.3% price coverage.
Pan American Silver Corp (PAAS): Silver Mining. Scaling in in pension portfolio. Wrote covered call for 1.2% premium with 20.6% price coverage.
United States Natural Gas (UNG): US Natural Gas. Scaling in in pension portfolio. Wrote covered call for 0.8% premium with 19.9% price coverage.
Dream Finders Homes (DFH): US Homebuilding. Averaged down entry price in pension portfolio.
Uranium Royalty Corp (UROY): Uranium. With price opening at $3.73 (Apr 21) put in place a January 2027 4.5/5.5/3.5 call spread risk reversal. This offers a 376% maximum profit potential for a 47% move in price. The sold put (3) fully funds the call spread premium with 6.3% price coverage. Breakeven is $3.00 if the sold put gets assigned.
Let's look at the chart which shows the bought call (4.5) as a blue ray and the sold call (5.5) as a red ray and the sold put (3.5) as a dotted red ray with the expiry date the dotted green line on the right margin. This trade is simply looking for price to keep crabbing upwards back to the Q1 2026 high - 3 blue arrow price scenarios will get it there. Of course, there is a chance of a light blue arrow price scenario in which case this gets there faster. Am holding wider spreads trades with he same expiry to capture that too.
In personal portfolio, had put in place the day before a January 2027 4/5.5/3 call spread risk reversal offering 305% maximum profit for 51.5% price move with 17.4% price coverage. Smaller profit potential with more price protection.
Credit Agricole (ACA.PA): French Bank. Been watching the German banks move - added a few non-German banks in pension portfolio. Price comparison to a Europe Banks ETF (EXV1.DE) done after the event with the banks recently bought and sold - Credit Agricole (green line) call was right - it is lagging. Dividend yield 6.58% - ex date May 26. Also sold an OTM put option offering 1.6% return with 3.3% coverage
UniCredito SPA (UCG.MI): Italian Bank. Seems that adding this Italian Bank was less smart - it has out-performed from the Covid lows. Dividend yield 4.89% - missed the ex date by two days
But in line from the cycle low from January 2025. Of note is the bank is still trying to take over Commerzbank (CBK.DE) - that will change valuations. Also put in place a credit spread with 53.6% ROI with 1.7% price coverage.
Anfield Energy (AEC): Uranium. Averaged down entry price in pension portfolio and in managed portfolio.
First Majestic Silver Corp (AG): Silver Mining. Scaling in in pension portfolio. Wrote covered call for 2.1% premium with 23.6% price coverage.
U.S. Gold Corp (USAU): Gold Mining. Scaling in in pension portfolio. Wrote covered call for 3.96% premium with 6.6% price coverage.
Fermi Inc (FRMI): Nuclear Technology. Scaling in to average down ahead of a possible sold put assignment.
Myriad Uranium Corp (M.CN): Uranium. Watched interview on Triangle Investor with the CEO, Thomas Lamb - interview was more interesting about what he chose not to say. Do not under-estimate the upcoming drill program was the clue. Added a first parcel to pension portfolio.
enCore Energy Corp (EU): Uranium. Decided to bite the bullet and start replacement of holdings assigned - added a small parcel in managed portfolio and personal portfolio. Had this chart in mind.
iShares MSCI Brazil Capped ETF (EWZ): Brazil Index. Added to small holding in managed portfolio. Had this chart from last month in mind. Wrote covered call for 1.16% premium with 5% price coverage.
Neo Energy Metals Plc (NEO.L): : Uranium. Added to holding in personal portfolio to average down entry price - down days are the day to make the DCA choices. Always good to see a stock, added in the week, join the big movers list after the purchase.
Woodside Energy Group (WDS.AX): Australian Oil & Gas. Watched a Rick Rule interview covering implications of Straits of Hormuz closure - good for any supplier that is not affected. He mentioned Woodside (WDS.AX) export from North West Shelf - first cargos arriving in North America as we speak. He also touched on Cheniere (LNG). Already have a holding there - so added Woodside in personal portfolio
Sold
LINTEC Corporation (7966.T): Specialty Chemicals. Closed out in pension portfolio for 105% profit since November 2019 - one of the early stock screen ideas.
OD6 Metals (OD6.AX): Fluorspar Mining. Price spiked on quarterly activity report pointing to solid fluorspar grades and extension of Nevada claims news. Took out initial capital in personal portfolio for 125% profit since March 2026. Next Investors idea.
Charts shows two entry points - first one when Next Investors published the idea and the second when the front running momentum ran out. Not sure what drove the 27% collapse in price after the exit especially as the grades announcement the week before was good.
ASX Portfolio
The segment reports trading in ASX fractional share portfolio. Trade entries are made based on stock screens looking for undervalued stocks (price to book, price earnings, price to sales) that are showing technical signs of breaking a downtrend. Exits are made at 35% profit or 25% if 52 week high is lower than 35% advance. New buys are in $500 lots. Scale ins and top ups in $250 lots
Auto-Invest for Grandkids
Sixth month running mini-ETF investment for my two granddaughters for $100 a month spread across a mix of uranium and rare earths stocks. Auto-invest programs carry no fees on entry
- Orpheus Uranium Ltd (ORP.AX): Uranium.
- American Uranium (AMU.AX): Uranium.
- Dateline Resources (DTR.AX): Rare Earths.
- Locksley Resources (LKY.AX): Rare Earths.
- Lotus Resources (LOT.AX) - a pure uranium play.
Have now received the stock for the merger of Global Uranium and Enrichment (GUE.AX) with Snow Lake Resources (LITM) - a new entity called Frontier Nuclear and Minerals (FNUC) listed in US. Of note is Sharesies was able to execute the corporate action but Commsec could not do it in my personal portfolio. I have to do the work myself.

Covered Calls
58 covered calls written across 4 portfolios (UK 2 Europe 4 US 49 Canada 3)
UBS EXTRACS Crude Oil Shares Covered Call ETN (USOI): US Oil. Added to holding in managed portfolio - each time oil price rises, this looks better. Yield 21.08% - hard pressed to make that on my own covered call work. Opened a small holding in personal portfolio.
