Hello dear Hivers, friends and readers in general.
Today I share a short story that has been evolving the past month-ish.
First up, I want to say this is not myself
Before easter, a pupil on my daughters school was diagnosed with glandular fever.
This is itself isn't (in my experience) too serious. It's very contagious and you have to be careful not to pass it on to your entire surroundings, but other than that, the times I have seen people with glandular fever has been somewhat functional and it hasn't seemed too serious.
This particular case proved to be a whole other case. A unique one, you might say.
During easter (and some time after, as far as I know), the bacteria paved way to the bloodstream.
Because of this, he developed blood poisoning, meningitis and an increased cranial pressure.
He went through multiple surgeries and was put in a medical induced coma (or at least put in respirator), to allow the body to rest properly. The initial message to the parents was, that he had to lay there for at least two weeks.
Today, over 4 weeks later, the parents has announced he is now out of the coma and will start rehabilitation in the very near future.
Luckily he was a strong, healthy kid which according to the doctors has helped him get through this rough time more easily than it could have been.
While all this does not directly relate to my daughter, it does relate to one from her year, as it is her (the friend's) older brother who was through this.
My daughter informed that the friend did not want to talk about it, and my daughter has respected this.
Well done to the doctors for getting him through this. To the relatives for informing about it and the entire class/school to go through such events in such a great spirit while respecting boundaries.
I can only imagine how happy all of his friends and family must have been when they finally received the good news!
