Hello hivers,

I thought I would take a close look and discuss about my current expenses.. I'm sure we all have similar expenses for the most part.
If I try and single out just one expense that, for me, takes up most of my budget. In fact, if I could just eliminate this one thing from my list of expenses. I would already be ahead in income vs expenses. That is my housing situation.
#1 Biggest Expense - Shelter/Housing
(note.. this is NOT my actual house)
I currently spend $2,000 on a set spending each month with maybe $300 once a while to cover miscellaneous expenses. I'll average that and say I operate on a $2100 usd monthly budget.
A whopping $1500 is spent right away as rent. That means 71.4% of my monthly budget is currently going towards housing. Now, I do stay home 95% (or more) of the time, so that makes some kind of sense. Real estate and rental prices here on Maui are extremely high and it's true that you pay just to live here.. locals call it paradise tax. :P
I look so forward to the day when I own my own land and house, and don't have any rent to pay. I know there are upkeep costs to pay with that, but not having rent to budget would really tip the scales big time.. imagine it.. taking off $1500 from the expenses side. :)
#2 Trading/Invest
My second biggest expense is that I currently transfer at the start of each month, $300 to my trading account. That's another 14.3% gone. However, I consider that as an expense that will turn into a form of income generation. If I never put anything into trying to create assets and income generating, then I would now have nothing to make me any income. There would only be X amount of days until I can't afford to live how I want and my savings would be all gone.
#3 Food
I (my daughter and I) spend $50/week on groceries. That's 9.5%. Nothing to explain there.. people gotta eat. However, wouldn't it be great to eliminate this expense (or at least lesson to a great degree) grocery and outside food consumption by growing and producing your own food? uh huh.
That's about it. Aside from the occasional unforeseen expense, these top 3 expenses I've listed cover my monthly budget. Nothing fancy going on. Hive is about the most exciting thing I do all day. :P For me it's all about slowly amassing assets and limiting or eliminating my liabilities, and that will directly affect my income/expenses situation.
Anyone have some input for me or maybe they're doing it a different way? We are all here (hopefully) to learn and help each other.
:)
