Happy weekend all,
I woke up in a pretty good mood. Sat down to drink my coffee and eat some yummy blueberry and white chocolate scones, but quickly noticed the down and upset face and mood of my wife.. :(
She 'explained' (via short, angry statements) how the IRS is now lovingly taking $45 direct from our shared checking account each month, for the next 4 years! (if we don't pay the balance owed)
Not exactly what you'd like to hear first thing in the morning.. (or at anytime really)
Here's what happened.. We all know about how the US government gave out 'free' money (or should we call it inflation in a bottle) and then later dispensed aid calling it a 'child tax credit' or some such nonsense. I have 2 kids so was given $3k per child in 'tax credit'. Now I guess whoever gave these credits didn't bother to check details, but have no fear.. that's what the IRS is good at. (as long as YOU owe THEM)
Turns out that since 1 of my kids, the girl child, was born in philippines, she didn't qualify for the credit, or was it because the boy was living in philippines at the time the credit was 'given'? I'm not certain. but whatever the reason, we now get to repay a $3k loan to the IRS. did I mention that the interest is a mere 18%?!?!
Now that I'm aware of all the facts, I intend to somehow find an extra $3k and pay this off ASAP. (less the interest fee already suffered) C'mon HBD, can we inrease the APR to 30% pls??
:P
