We live in a different world here as this is not normal government behavior being so racist. This is insulting to every black person as it is sending the wrong message telling everyone you cannot make it on your own and need a free ride.
Unbelievable that this topic of race quotas for water is even a topic, but it is one that has been raised by the ANC government in South Africa. Elections are due next year and having so many problems with electricity supply they are looking for a rabbit in a hat to boost the voting figures. If we consider the black government has been in power 30 years and this is how they are still thinking which goes to show they are no different from the apartheid government that controlled the country before them. This is a total disgrace and is insulting to every race as it is saying that blacks are not good enough to obtain success on their own besides cheating their way to ownership.
This is aimed at the farming and mining industry where the proposal will see farmers having to give up percentages of ownership to black people as the ruling if passed will give them the power to claim ownership of the farm for supplying water. It wont be a farm worker but some official benefitting from this as this is another way besides corruption of stealing wealth.
250 000 cubic meters of water would see the farmer/miner relinquishing 25% of his farm/mine right up to 1 million cubic meters of water for 75%. The idea is they will give their voters a free pass to obtain ownership by blackmailing the farmer knowing he needs the resources.
A quota system never works and all this will do is create chaos and anger as this is racial discrimination on steroids. A country that has a deep history in racism is acting no better by using racism themselves. People often say whites/Indians/Chinese are racist and always highlight this point, but when it is on the other foot with blacks racist to other races people keep quiet. Whoever is being racist is a sick individual as skin color should not be recognized or ever be raised. The SA Government has only again highlighted what kind of people that truly are as this should never even be discussed let alone passing it through parliament.
This is how you mess with the economy as this will create a devastating affect with job losses and a lack of food resources. If you owned a farm would you agree to this as I would not and I would look at changing what I farm reducing the water required even if it affected me financially. The proposed regulation will effect exports and the economy creating huge unemployment all for trying to buy back votes. We already have a race class BEE system which has anyone who isn't black disadvantaged by the system and it does not work.
Water is a free commodity and everyone should be entitled to this natural resource especially if you are supplying food which feeds the country and adds to the GDP.
There was a joke that the government was anti solar initiatives as you cannot steal free electricity and here we are discussing how to benefit from supplying water by using underhanded methods.
