There is a saying, first impression matters. Still on school matters but I will be delving a little away from the course in the process. People share experiences when they travel and it has been the same case here. Since our study center is much more advanced, other students within the South South have been pushed to our study center for practicals. I guess I am fortunate.
Maybe before going any further, I should do a run through of how today went. Let me start from the marathon decision that forced me off the office very early. In the end, it ended up a success. Practicals were done and submitted but that wasn't ALL, the main practicals for today were yet to hold. It started very late and at first, I lost hope until I saw our facilitator heading to the practicals hall.
Another long one that caused a new record stay in my study center. It was about creating and breaking records; the first time I stayed till 6:PM and the first time also extended till almost 8:PM. In the end, I was able to achieve something.
Backdating to the morning times because this was when I was able to capture this topic. Ok, I was trying to PEN down some things with my colleagues and that was when the conversations started. Other colleagues from other states within the South South started sharing their experiences in our city. Of course they love Akwa-ibom for its peaceful nature. We have good roads and some popular places to talk of but there was something missing; no steady or at least reliable electricity.
That's bad, how captivating can a city be without electricity? I had to be just quietly writing at that moment without voicing out too much to people around. It was just my close colleague that I took time to explain the current situation. As of last year, we were enjoying at least 20 hours of general electricity until this switch came in and we lost the best band we ever had. The situation has continued till date and we are not too sure of when they will retrace steps.
To conclude, let me add, it is not encouraging that visitors will be heading home to their state concluding we don't have an efficient power supply. I just wish any of our electricity billers was available during this conversation because we have actually had a thumbs down on this already.
