I’ve always thought it would be cool to have my artwork on merchandise. I signed up for a print-on-demand service a long time ago but I’ve never got around to work on it.
I think all artists face the difficulties of marketing their artwork.
I’m so bad at it. Marketing is a whole lot of different things from creating art but at least we have some cool tools to start nowadays.
NFT is one of them. We have our own NFT Showroom here on HIVE. OpenSea is the big one. I haven’t explored it yet. MOOAR is very new and I think it has many potential. I've been working at MOOAR nowadays.
The print-on-demand services have been around for a while now.
There are so many companies to sign up with, but they all provide similar services. You can upload your artwork/image and they will do the printing and shipping for you as it is ordered.
Some have everything in one place, meaning that printing services and e-commerce is built on their website. Some provide printing services and have tools to connect to different e-commerce (Amazon, Shopify, eBay etc...), but you have to have your store website.
They all have their unique products from simple T-shirts to mugs, pins, stickers, bags and even home accessories.
You want to consider the product prices which include the cost of the plain product (T-shirt, mugs...etc), the cost of printing and shipping. Some charges more than other.
I’ll leave some of my finding about different print-on-demand services here.
First, I looked into SUZURI. It is the print on demand store based in Japan. I thought I should have a store based in Japan because I interact with some Japanese people on Twitter but I found out that I have to have an address and bank in Japan. So, this doesn't work for me.
They provide print-on-demand and storefronts on their website.
It’s free to sign up. They do global shipping.
SUZURI
The second one that I looked into is called Printful.
Printful is by far the best one I've found through reading and watching the reviews considering the service, variety of the products and the quality of their prints. But, your store won't be built into their website, so you have to have your website and connect with some e-commerce. They do global shipping. They have printing locations around the world. The products are printed and shipped from locations close to the customers.
No cost to sign up.
The third one that I looked into is called Printify.
This is similar to Printful. You need to have your website and connect with an e-commerce service. They do printing and shipping for you. What is different about Printfy is that you get to choose which printing companies to print your images for each product.
It is great to be able to explore different printing companies but for me, it was too much to look into. It was starting to give me a headache. However, if you are very picky about how you want your images to be printed. This might be your print-on-demand service. They say they do global shipping but not stated as clear as Printful.

The last one that I looked into is called Redbubble. Well, actually, this is the company I signed up some years ago.
They are popular for their stickers. They don't have the best reviews of the print though, but I found that it is the easiest one to start with. Their packaging is very cool as well.
Everything you need to start selling is there on their website. It is very easy to upload and edit the images to fit each product. You can easily share your product on different social media as well. Also, Redbubble is focused on promoting its products. It is free to sign up.
Well, you still need to do the marketing, of course. That's why I'm writing this! Haha
To make long story short, my store is up and running on Redbubble! I will be ordering some product this weekend to see how they turn out.

アーティストなら誰でも、自分の作品を売ることの難しさに直面すると思います。私はセールスが本当に苦手です。作品を作ることとは全く異なる分野というか、いつも周りと自分を比べてしまうし、消極的になってしまいます。けれどそんなことは言っていられません。売りたいのです！最近は売るためのツールがたくさんあるのでそれを上手く利用していけたらなと思います。
NFTはそのひとつかなと思います。HIVEにはNFT Showroomがありますね。放置してしまっているのでいつか戻れたらなと思います。OpenSeaは有名ですが私はまだトライ出来ていません。MOOARはとても新しく多くの可能性を秘めていると思います。最近はMOOARが楽しくて仕方のない私です。
それから自分のアート作品がグッズになったら楽しいですよね。ずいぶん前にプリントオンデマンドのサービスに登録しましたが、登録しただけで放置していました。最近AIで生成した画像をNFTに、そしてグッズにも出来ないかなと考えていたので調べた事を書き留めておこうと思います。
プリントオンデマンドのサービスを提供している会社はいろいろありますが、どれも画像をアップロードして、注文が入ると印刷＆発送するというのが基本です。
印刷＆発送とオンラインショップが一つになっているサービスサイトは特に便利です。中には印刷サービスとeコマース（Amazon、Shopify、eBayなど）と繋ぐツールのみを提供して、お店のウェブサイトは自分で用意しなければならないところもあります。
多くのサービスがシンプルなTシャツからマグカップ、ピンバッジ、ステッカー、バッグ、そしてホームアクセサリーまで個性的な商品を揃えています。
グッズの基本価格とでもいうのかな…これは無地のTシャツ、マグカップ...などの価格と印刷代、送料を含めたものですが、サービズ会社によって価格が違うので考慮したいところです。売価からこれを差し引いたものが収入となります。
まず、SUZURIについて調べてみました。日本に拠点を置くプリントオンデマンドショップです。Twitterで日本の方と交流があるので、日本に拠点を置くショップがあった方がいいなと思ったのですが、SUZURIは日本に住所と銀行口座がないと売り上げを受け取ることが出来ないようです。ので、私には使えません。それと若干、画像のアップロードと商品の編集機能が使いづらいなと感じました。

登録は無料。グローバルシッピングもしてくれるようです。

Printfulはサービス、商品の種類、プリントクオリティなど、レビューを読んだり見たりした中で一番良い印象を受けました。けれどもショップがサービスサイトに組み込まれていないので、自分のウェブサイトを作らないといけません。AmazonやShopfyなど、eコマースと繋ぐ必要があります。ショップをオープンするのにお金がかかる！グローバルシッピング。印刷＆発送の拠点が一番多かったかな…日本にもありますね。

Printify
これはPrintfulと似ています。自分のウェブサイトを用意して、eコマースサービスと繋ぐ必要があります。Printfulと違うところは、商品ごとに印刷会社を選べるところです。
いろいろな印刷会社の中から選べるのは良いのですが、私にとっては調べることが多すぎて頭が痛くなりました。画像の印刷クオリティにとてもこだわりがあるのなら良いと思います。
登録は無料。グローバルシッピングもしてくれるようですが、Printfulほどはっきり書いてない様子。
最後に調べたのはRedbubble
というか、何年か前に登録したところです。登録は無料です。
ステッカーで人気です。サイトの使い勝手がとても良いです。発送商品のパッケージもとてもクールです。けれどプリントのクオリティのレビューがあまり良くないんですよね。他と比べてです。販売を開始するために必要なものは、すべてウェブサイト上にあります。画像をアップロードして、それぞれの製品に合うように編集するのもとても簡単です。ソーシャルメディアでも簡単にシェアできます。そしてRedbubbleは商品の販売促進に力を入れているようです。
まあ、それでも自分でマーケティングしないとなんですけどね。だから、これを書いているんです！ヒヒっ
