The World is very much abuzz with so many distractions that it is rather easy to get carried away by various happenings and the sentiments surrounding them. Mainstream social media space is proving to be more than nought a no-go area for anyone who seeks a semblance of normalcy in their lives.
A few minutes there and the algorithm sucks you into a vortex of content that stir up emotions rather unnecessarily. Several minutes or hours later and you find yourself wondering what was done with the previous gift of time we've been granted. For many the solution has been to steer clear of unnecessary media distractions; one that has proven tough for the common person.
It takes a special kind of discipline not to be distracted, moreso because we are social beings more than anything else. Everyone likes finding their voice, and being heard. I recall when Twitter or X was new that was the premise that sold us in. We no longer had to listen to mainstream media opinions or celebrity opinions but could actually compose our thoughts and engage on a global platform.
These days the demerits of that are quite apparent. While everyone is still allowed to have their say, it is quite obvious that a lot of people are farming attention rather than giving deep thoughts on issues. It makes room for some of the most absurd takes on issues you'll ever see.
A place like Hive is a perfect alternative to all the noise. I guess I always knew that, but I see that even more clearly now. There's hardly room for hatred here and even disagreements are made very respectfully.
