The last few weeks have been quite exciting for me with very little hiccups. I'll say the activities of the last few weeks have completely turned around my fortunes for the year. Once filled with a lot of trepidation for the new year, I will be entering 2026 with an excitement not felt in well over a year.
The chief culprit of course is a career update. I will be leaving my current company come year end and pivoting to a rival company in a new role in their Internal Audit team. If you read my blogs you'll know how disillusioned I've been with my current company for a while now due to our differences in what work culture should be.
I considered quitting but was too cowardly or too mature to make the move without another offer on the table. Unemployment is not a reasonable cost to pay for job satisfaction at my current stage in life. The only option for me was simply to intensify my efforts in getting another role and exercise patience while at it. A few suitable vacancies came along which I applied for but came up short.
When I had my interview for this job i didn't quite feel like I did sufficiently well during the second interview stage. I felt I rambled a bit even though I answered all questions asked. For me, I believed other applicants would certainly have performed better and I tried to take my mind off it.
However the company seems to have seen something in me. When the offer came in last week I was both surprised and excited. It certainly is a lovely way to begin the year 2026 and this particular occurrence has set the tone for what could potentially be a very exciting new year.
