There is a lot of money in the public hands and you make a regulated crypto in the market, you can have that money. That's what bankers around the world have done in the past. And they want to do the same in the exchange traded funds and notes market.
London stock exchange is now salivating on the ETF/ETN fund money so that they can have the slice of crypto market. They are opening up towards the application of the financial companies who happen to get into the ETF/ETN market and wish to create the respective funds for consumers.
Let's take a look at how the London stock exchange wishes to execute this in upcoming times.
What are Exchange Traded Notes in London Stock Exchange?
Just like the exchange traded funds where the funds are pegged on the underlying asset like say gold or oil. In case of the crypto there is also exchange traded funds and in case of london stock exchange they have decided to name this as a notes. So you have the exchange traded notes.
This will be regulated and cleared by the BIS and Euroclear Bank & Clear Stream Bank (ICSD). So you have the assurance that the exchange traded notes are safe and can be easily used for the trading and the investment purpose. We have a lot of interesting updates in the datasheet fo the ETN. And there is a document that you can access in pdf here.
Admission of Bitcoin and Ethereum ETNs
As per the notice from the london stock exchange, there is an update where the exchange would be accepting the exchange traded notes applications. So say if there are banking and the asset management companies who wish to apply for this would be able to do so in the upcoming times and they would be given the approval based on the regulation that follows.
ETNs are going to be hot cake in the UK and if this trend continues you can expect more of such similar funding using the EU and they may make it in the union level and nations would be holding such that it would be happening in the exchange level of individual national level. So if you consider growth in this sector then this would happen in upcoming crypto market. You can check out the notice of the london exchange here.
Direct investment or ETF/ETN, What do you think?
I am more of a direct funding into the decentralized coins. I don't think there would be a possibility of the centralized coins and the ETF doing anything good. I realized that ETNs in the UK are going to be taking the funds through regulated means which is kind of like control of the govt on your assets and you don't even experience and love such long term.
In this context, regulation is something we have to watch out for. Like FCA is going to have a tough time trying to understand all possible loopholes initially. And they may even take a look at other nations for the progress on this part. But ETN is going to happen and the exchanges in the nation would slowly coming into the motion for this. I would say London stock exchange is going to take other alts like solana too if the demand comes in.
London stock exchange being open towards the ETN for the bitcoin and ethereum is a good news for the UK residents and they would be willing to invest into the regulated crypto asset in upcoming times.
