A Financial Times report noted that a traditional portfolio composed of 60% stocks and 40% bonds will have experienced its worst performance since 1932, when the United States was in the midst of the Great Depression.
Meanwhile, tech stocks, which some theorize have a correlation to cryptocurrency prices, haven't had a great year either.
U.S. tech giants such as Netflix, Meta, Zoom, Spotify and Tesla have also had particularly difficult years; their share price declines range from 51% to 70%.
Some of the cryptocrises that have occurred throughout 2022 include the bankruptcies of FTX, Celsius and Three Arrows Capital, as well as the collapse of the Terra network.
