I am already enjoying this alpha UI for our great Leo finance platform. Everything looks brand new here and i cam only appreciate the effort of our great team that have put this together. The long wait is really worth it and its a matter of a little more few weeks and we have the full features all working here.
I am already loving what am seeing here and would like to share with you friends the 3 features I admire so much. Although this is much work in progress, but its already looking great. Here are the top 3 features that trickled me.
The 4-column UI under Publish
The first thing I noticed is the beautiful arrangement of the entire UI divided in 4 columns when you click the publish post menu. Each column is a small container of related features or functionality. I did the screenshot so you can see it below:
It looks so streamlined. The main reason I love this arrangement is that you know where all your stuffs are kept. Starting from the first column, we have all the most useful menu for easy navigation. Much like the table of contents of any book, it is ideally sited at the beginning from left. So a user can easily locate their page of menu item of interest and kick off their user experience from there. Just as we were informed in the AMA yesterday, some of the pages are still under construction - so expect to see a 404 if you check them.
The second column is the compose post section where you type your story and format it. The use of standard UI symbols such as B for bold and I for italics makes it very easy for even new users to feel at home. The 3rd column is the preview page where you will see in real time what your post will look like when published. All the formatting done is also clearly visible here.
The fourth column houses the tag, the permlink for the post. Setting up the rewards structure for the post and other stuffs. Most important in this section is the post button which is for publishing the post.
This 4 column interface under Publish is my best pick feature of this UI. everything looks organized and its not difficult to find what you are looking for.
The Bookmarks Page
This would be an interesting addition that came with this new UI. Before now, I usually just reblog any post I want to visit later. The disadvantage of this old method is that not all post are meant to be reblogged. Some posts might just contain something I want to study, use later or simply remember. The only way to keep them from not getting lost in the ocean of posts is to reblog them. But that is going to change with the bookmarks page.
When I bookmark any article, it will sure land in the bookmarks page where I can always come back to check the posts that are there. I will naturally expect some form of sorting when this new page is developed. Bookmarks could be sorted by date, tag or even community. This way, I will be able to quickly get to the item I am looking for if there are many bookmarks on the page.
Threads on the first page
This is really cool. Threads would play a crucial role in the development of further projects on the platform. It will play an even significant role in our 5000 active user target by the end of 2023. Sorted by most recent threads at the top, this page is cool and encourages the user to start engaging right away.
The Leo team smartly sold threads to everyone by placing it on the landing page and that is strategic. Short-form content has more consumers than long-form. So using this appealing project to welcome new and old users is a way to make a big statement that short-form content is welcome and rewarded here on Leo finance.
Please be patient. Remember that Threads in the new UI is still under development. A lot of features are not there yet since this is just the Open Alpha phase (much like testing phase). More features will become available and once everything is confirmed, it will migrate from the alpha phase.
I would love a word counter here
Yes right here on the compose post page. I really love word counters as I care about post length. Most times, I copy my post to an online word counter to see how much I have written. So please, the dev team if you would see this post, kindly add a word counter on this page so that it will be easy to know how much the user have written. Just as threads have a word counter, I would really love a word counter here.
LPUD today (15/2/2023)
I cannot forget to get involved in the power up event organized by this lovely community. I would like to show you my wallet before powering up:
As you can see, I already have 16,531 LP before now. I have planned to power up more than 1k LP. But the cash crunch situation in my country is making everything really hard. So for now, I will power up 1k Leo as you can see below:
So here is my wallet below after the power up
Conclusion
I thank the Leo dev team for an amazing work they have done. I know they still have a lot to do. Let them keep up the great efforts. And am sure they appreciate what every feedback we can provide.
Thank you all friends!!! Lets Power Up More!!!!!
I invite my friends to join this launching and testing of the new UI:
