Hive has two components to it. One is passive - and can go on relatively unattended for a period of time and still produce results on auto-pilot - the other is active or hands-on, and that's where you should be present to be informed, make decisions, or put in the work.
As someone who is active daily on Hive, I admit I don't understand people who take long periods of absence from it unless they treat it like a hobby or curiosity.
Note that when I say active I don't mean posting every day or even commenting. That's only one facet of Hive, and not everyone will do it. But there are already a number of different ways you can actively be involved on Hive regularly (daily) and, make it a worthwhile activity, especially if you don't have a short-term perspective on things.
Anyway, this is not a pitch for Hive.
It is only a remark, after my short mini-vacation to recharge my batteries on the weekend, during which I spent very little time online.
Today I've mostly caught up with what I missed during that time.
So, let's see... From Friday afternoon till Monday afternoon (give or take), some pretty significant things happened:
- Golem Overlord keeps adding feature after feature. During those 3 days, they added a Prestige System, published a whitepaper and introduced guilds to the game.
- A new game was launched on Discord by the @PsyberX team; it is fully on Discord and tied to Hive, but I haven't been able to test it since the invitation link to Discord is broken or expired.
- A couple of old wallets of Splinterlands got looted of their DEC and SPS; the team mentioned in the town hall it may be related to a third-party security breach and that they haven't used those wallets in over 1 year; all stolen DEC and SPS were dumped on the market and the team said the loss is in the neighborhood of 180-200k USD, but doesn't jeopardize the company's operations. Still, maybe they should be more careful, it's the second recent incident (including the one on GLS).
- BeeSwap has a new interface and a DHF funding proposal for development.
This is almost as much as in a full week recap, all happening in a weekend.
Seems that there is a certain excitement building up, and teams are trying to position themselves before the bull market accelerates to catch the expected wave of prosperity that will push up pretty much all crypto projects (including crappy ones). We might have some fun times ahead!
